Amazon Prime Air – Deliveries by Drones – Comes to the UK

amazon drone

“The online retail giant announced Monday evening that it had reached an agreement with the U.K. government to expand the types of drone tests it is conducting in the region. The new arrangement will allow Amazon to test drone flights that extend beyond the line of sight of the pilot in suburban or rural areas — a necessary ingredient in the aerial delivery of packages that the U.S.’s Federal Aviation Administration currently doesn’t allow.

The agreement also includes the ability for Amazon to test sensors that would prevent drones from unintentionally colliding, and allows Amazon to have a single drone pilot oversee a fleet of drones. Such a setup would be necessary to make large-scale drone delivery economically feasible someday.

The U.K. is a leader in enabling drone innovation, an Amazon exec said in one part of a statement.”

No more unreliable courier deliveries and another step towards removing people/jobs out of the equation.

Rumours – Apple iPhone rumours are about to go crazy

wp-1469187647794.jpg

In just over 6 weeks Apple is going to announce the latest iPhones for 2016 to 2017. What normally happens is if a competitor like Samsung is rumoured to be announcing something novel, like an iris scanner in their new Note 7, guess what, a rumour starts that the iPhone will have this feature, albeit in 2018.

In fact the alleged specs, camera improvements, spy shots and more are becoming insane.

Also Apple will time press releases to disrupt a competitor(s) launch. Nothing wrong in this, just smart.

So instead of rumours, I am going to focus on reviews, unless I believe the rumour to be at least 85% correct. I have tons of reviews in the being prepared, so stay tuned.

The 8 week Blood Sugar Diet – Just 800 calories per day – Week 1 – The Epic Results & My Journey

wp-1469138816965.jpg

On the 16th July 2016, I started the 8 week Blood Sugar diet that is just 800 calories per day. It’s been a tough week, more so at the start, especially the first 48 hours.

During the first 48 hours my body had cravings for sweet things and hunger pangs were persistent. During the first 48 hours you need willpower but I can tell you its worth the effort. During the first week, I tried to walk more too. The key I found to feeling good was keeping hydrated with water. I ended up drinking 3 litres of water a day which has its side effects of needing to pee more frequently. I also got some sugar free gum to help with times when I might have eaten food for no good reason.  However, after the third day, I never felt hungry and my desire for naughty foods diminished. Last Friday, I was in my local supermarket and walked down the chocolate and cake aisles. I had no desire for anything.

To make this diet work, I had prepared a load of gear to help me record and monitor accurately my progress. I am also taking selfies along the way. If you want to recap all the items I’m using , read my first post –  Click HERE. I also have a dedicated page where all my diet posts are being kept. This can be found using the Menu or Click HERE.

I also got a notebook, and started planning my meals out in full. These were some of the suggested menus in the Bloodsugardiet book. Amazon Link to Blood Sugar Diet book – Click HERE.

Two of the suggested menu items are shakes and soups. I personally really like the thick shakes for breakfast and soup for lunch. One of my kitchen gadgets is an Andrew James soup maker. It also does shakes. I can’t recommend this piece of equipment enough. It makes light work of making soups in 20 mins flat. More info and Amazon link on the Andrew James Soup maker –  Click HERE.

Below are a selection of my meals, from lunch, breakfast and dinner. These are all from the Bloodsugardiet book. What amazes me is the fact that full fat items are used in this diet. The full fat helps keeping you feel full and is healthy. Who’d have thought that! Click on any photo to open the gallery to see photo in a larger size.

So how did week 1 go in terms of weight, blood sugar levels and more ? Below are the measurements from Saturday 23rd July 2016, exactly one week after being on the 8 week Blood Sugar Diet.

Here we go –

– Weight – lost 1st 1lb – amazing result to lose this in just 7 days!

– Waist – lost 2 inches. My face and next look slimmer too.

– Blood Sugar levels – down 17%

– Blood Pressure – down 10%

– Body Water Percentage – increased by 0.5%

As a consequence, my BMI and body fat has also dropped. But what has also changed is my energy levels. Despite being on 800 calories a day, I have tons more energy. The loss of one stone in weight is noticeable in every way possible – clothes, ease of moving around, photos. If you read the book, it says to weigh yourself every day. I did. And I lost weight every day. I wouldn’t normally do this on a diet, but since the food is so different to what I would have been eaten, the daily weight reduction really kept me motivated for the next day.

Finally I would like to say thank you to everybody who wished me good luck. It really helped keep my motivation up!

So all that remains is to complete the next 7 weeks.

PS – Just to re-iterate I went to my doctor to discuss going on this plan as recommended by the book. My doctor was very supportive and offered a number of ways of helping me at different intervals. In fact, I was surprised just how helpful and supportive my doctor was when I mentioned I wanted to start the 8 week blood sugar diet.

Latest iPhone 7 leaks highlights new dual camera, video compares Rose Gold iPhone 7 to iPhone 6s

Latest iPhone 7 leaks highlights new dual camera, video compares Rose Gold iPhone 7 to iPhone 6s.

“The iPhone 7 leaks continue in the run up to the launch expected sometime in early September. As has been widely reported by now, both the 4.7 inch iPhone 7 and the 5.5 inch iPhone 7 Plus will include significant camera upgrades with the latter getting a brand-new dual camera system. In a new photo leak from Weibo, the separate cameras (rumoured to be dual 12 megapixel sensors) are clearly visible. The redesigned camera with ~25% larger iris for the 4.7 inch iPhone 7 can also be seen although technical specifications of the new component is unknown.

Hopefully these new iPhone leaks come true to reveal a significant camera improvement. Plus it will be exciting to see what developers can do too.

Samsung Note 7 – Hands on Video

In just 10 days time, Samsung will officially announce the new Samsung Note 7. That hasn’t stopped rumours and leaks pouring out. What’s better than these, a hands on video of the device in action.

This is not surprising that this has got leaked out (of course this could be a fake) since the phone is likely to be available to buy on the same day.

Anyway, MobileFun released this hands on video below, so what do you think?

Laser Damage will destroy your Smartphone Camera – details

Nowadays we use our iPhones, Samsung’s and other android phones cameras to snap photos and video everywhere we go. This includes at concerts and such like.

Typically when attending an event like a concert, lasers are used for special effects. Now the official filming crew will have their equipment positioned in such a way as to not to be in the way of any lasers.

But as a member of the audience, the stage crew are not worried about your camera, nor can they adjust the lasers for it. Lasers are lethal to your cameras lens and here’s why.

If a concert used a green laser, then you would need a protective material to block green light of the laser’s wavelength. This will distort the colours seen by your phone’s camera. The green colour from the laser will be reduced. A very high quality filter can knock out only the exact laser wavelength, allowing some green to be seen, but such a narrow-band filter is more expensive.

If the laser used at a concert are multi-coloured, then you would need a filter to block red, green and blue laser wavelengths. Obviously, this affects many more colours than just a green only filter. These types of filters are expensive.

Hopefully, from reading the above, you get the message. It is virtually impossible to protect your smartphone camera lens from lasers, so if they take a direct hit, it will damage your cameras lens permanently. The only fix is a new lens which in reality will mean a new phone.

Samsung Galaxy S7 – The Best Themes

Samsung’s latest devices come with the option to change the theme. The themes offer skin deep changes and even theme apps like the clock and messages.

I have ploughed through hundreds of themes, both free and paid. The best ones so far are –

– Android 6.0
– DeluxeGoldBlack
– MIUI Dark
– Black
– Black Marble
– Metal_Silver
– MetalRoyal
– Color Therapy
– Sci-Fi

My all time favourite is Gradient Blue. Screen shot above. Click HERE.

What are your favourite themes for the Samsung flagship phones. If you are using Nova Launcher, you can still have a Samsung Theme as this changes menu and more that are system deep.

Samsung Gear 360 – Editorial – Shooting in 360 and 110 degrees with your phone

360 Challenge 2

The Samsung Gear 360 is one piece of tech that I absolutely love. Its execution is beautiful and its a joy to use. The downside is that it only works with Samsung’s flagship phones. It also works upside down.

I also have the Samsung Lens Cover which is available for the S7 and S7 Edge. This is the wide angle lens fitted to the S7.

The Official Samsung Lens Cover case for Samsung Galaxy S7 with Wide Angle lens fitted

Even without the lenses fitted to the S7 you can obtain some amazing shots. See below.

The bee shot below is taken without any add on lenses. Just used Pro mode, macro and fixed the shutter speed.

But now inside the church and outside here are shots using the wide angle lens attachment. See how the extra width at 110 degrees does make a difference.

So now you can see the difference with the outside view of the church with using the wide angle lens.Looks great.

Anyway back to the Gear 360. This can take some amazing photos. For these to display in 360 degrees, you will need to click on photo and view via a desktop PC. Or make sure you change Chrome or Safari web browser to Desktop Mode and make sure you’re viewing Flickr in desktop mode.

The shot below is of the inside of the church. Here the 360 degree camera shines and is ideal for such a scenario.

I really love the difference photographing makes in 360 degrees. However, shooting in 360 degrees does not work all the time. Sometimes just using the phone without any attachments is the best option, but other times have either the wide or 2 x Telephoto lens changes the end result completely.
