Spigen Essential Fast Wireless Charger Review – The safe low cost option! Why pay more?

Welcome to my review of the Spigen Essential Fast Wireless Charger.

I wanted an additional Qi Fast Wireless charger. The issue with many cheap Qi wireless charger is safety. Some make your phone get too hot. Some just don’t work properly. Then there are different speeds of charging wirelessly.

Fortunately, I came across the Spigen Essential Fast Wireless Charger. It cost me £15.99 on Amazon UK . Today it is on sale at £14.99.

The Key Features

– Spigen is an Associate Memeber of Qi Membership (Qi Registration ID: 2093)
– Advanced Safety Features
– Improved Wireless Charing Usability
– Dual Coils for Portrait & Landscape
– Anti-slip mat, portable design and overcharging protection technology all combined
– Compatible with All Qi-Enabled Smartphones incl new iPhones, iPhone 8 / 8 Plus / X, as well as the Samsung Galaxy S8, S8 Plus, S7, S7 Edge, Note 9 etc.
– Angle works with FACE ID

What’s In The Box:
1 x Spigen Essential Fast Wireless Charger (Model: F303W)
1 x USB to Micro USB Cable
1 x User Guide

There are several things I like about this charger. First is the angle. It is great to see the screen and is angled so it works with FACE ID. The charger surface is an anti slip mat. It has safety features to prevent overheating. This is covered off more in my video review below.

Conclusion

I had a number of cheaper wireless chargers which I have no thrown in the bin. The Spigen design is so much better and safer. Highly recommeded.

Samsung’s 256gb EVO U3 Micro SD card – 4K video and more

The Samsung 256gb EVO U3 is one of the fastest micro sd cards available. Samsung describe it as ultra fast, and ideal for sports and action photography. This EVO card is also ideal for 4K UHD video recording.

So if you happened to have just ordered a Note 9, or have any other device that needs and supports micro sd cards , this is the one to go for. There are also lower storage capacities available and in a few months time, Samsung is likely to launch a 512gb version of this card, although I’d imagine this will be very expensive when it first becomes available.

At the moment, Amazon has 40% off the 256gb version, so head over and grab yourself a good deal, click HERE.

DJI Osmo Mobile 2 Review – DJI’s updated gimbal that’s over 50% cheaper than the original

Welcome to my review of the DJI Osmo Mobile 2. I owned and reviewed the original Osmo Mobile, so I was quite keen to see how this improved upon the original, also considering the original cost £299 whereas the updated version is only £139.

Key Specifications

– Dimensions 295 × 113 × 72mm
– Weight 485g
– Model OM170

– Consumption 1.2 W -Under ideal conditions with the gimbal fully balanced.
– Controllable Range Pan: ±160°
– Tilt:±155° (landscape orientation)
Mechanical Range Pan:±170°
– Roll:-90° to +70°
– Tilt:±170°
– Max Controllable Speed 120°/s
– Width of Compatible Phones 58.6 – 85mm
– Battery Type 18650 LiPo,Capacity 2600 mAh,Energy 18 Wh,Voltage 7.2 V
-Operating Time 15 hrs – Under ideal conditions with the gimbal fully balanced.
– Charging Time 2 hrs
– Bluetooth LE 4.0

Review

I reviewed the original Osmo Mobile, link at end to review which includes sample footage to some of the modes in the DJI app, which cost £299. On top of the £299, you had to buy so many accessories from a tripod attachment mount and more which added another £70 plus to the cost. With the new version, DJI lowered the price to £139. And you don’t need any accessories for it either. Why? Firstly by making the battery integrated, it added a tripod mount. Plus the integrated battery lasts up to 15 hours which is a vast improvement over the original.

The new version is also much lighter which makes it easier to hold for longer. Plus the new version allows you to charge your phone on the go when using the gimbal, or just acting as a power bank. You can’t charge both at same time though.

The DJI app is available on iOS and android. And just as iOS and android have differences, so does the app depending on the platform. See video review for differences.

As a gimbal, the Osmo Mobile 2 is fantastic. The new phone grip holds much bigger phones , although you might still need to take your phone case off. See video again which illustrates this. Using the gimbal you get smoother video footage. You can also take perfect panoramic shots , and a range of time lapses, motion time lapses and hyper time lapses. You can also shoot long exposures hand held!

Conclusion

It is incredible to think DJI not only reduced the price by over 50%, they actually made it much better than the original too. If you want a gimbal, this is the one to get.

Huawei Mate 10 Pro – Top Cases Reviewed

Huawei Mate 10 Pro, top cases reviewed. When you have a beautifully designed phone like the Huawei Mate 10 Pro, the last thing you would want to do is put a case on it. Unfortunately, if you don’t, one simple drop could end in tears. Glass no matter how strong, scratches and cracks.

So I have looked at a range of cases from different companies looking at a number of factors and then picked a winner. I will leave some links to the cases at the end. My favourite case for the Mate 10 Pro, is also the same case that I use for the Google Pixel 2 XL and LG V30+.

Main Review

I have used VR for about 2 years and in that time quite a bit has changed. There are many more apps and experiences available. The Samsung Gear VR experience is superb. Lots of apps, slick software too. The headset is over 100g heavier than the Daydream View. The Daydream is lighter and more comfortable to wear. But I had glitches using it with my Note 8, whereby I had to keep removing the Note 8 out of the headset to fix things so that I could move on again. At one point, it was driving me mad. However, it is all about the software. If you find an app or game that you prefer on one platform or another, then that might hold some more weight for you. Personally, I think Samsung is superior in both hardware and software at the moment, but is restricted by the fact it only works for certain Samsung phones. Therefore, with Daydream View you probably will end up with the ability to use it with so many different phones and brands. Now continue to the video review for more insights.

Video Review

Conclusion

Quite simply if you have a Samsung phone that is compatible with the Gear VR, then stick to Samsung’s own offering. It offers a wide selection of content and a slicker software package. For everyone else, Google’s Daydream View offers compatibility across multiple brands. It just lacks the number of VR apps and slick software experience.
