Dissatisfied with the plastic BlackBerry Priv? Now available in 24k GOLD

51

The BlackBerry Priv is finished is a grippy plastic material. Some users have reported that its a bit plastic but have no fear, Karalux is here with its 24K gold-plated BlackBerry Priv. The gold plating comes cheap at a cost of $1,333. Plus Postage.

As much as I like gold finishes I just don’t see the point personally. However, a trip some years ago to Harrods Department Store in London, revealed a whole area dedicated to gold, diamond and other expensive finishes to iPhones and BlackBerry’s. Blackberry’s were very much in demand.

What if Apple removed the headphone jack on the iPhone 7? – Your thoughts

There were a number of reports over the last 7 days that Apple will remove the headphone jack on the next iPhone.

Connection to your music will either be done via bluetooth or using the lightning connector. Personally, removing the headphone jack might upset a few people, but really it is not a major disaster. Potentially the sound quality via the lightning cable should sound better and bluetooth music audio is particularly good nowadays.

Now if Apple provided an adapter to allow 3.5mm headphones to connect to the lightning port, then I really cannot see the fuss or inconvenience other than not being able to charge the phone whilst listening to music.

But what about yourself? Would you care?

Has Adele broken subscription streaming services? – Editorial

Here are the facts from Adele’s new album 25 after just its first week of sales.

– UK – sold 800,000 copies.

– USA – sold 3.38 million copies.

Now lets add some meat to those figures. In the USA, 25 is the first album to ever have broken the 3 million mark in a week. It is also the biggest selling album in 2015 in the USA, with Taylor Swift’s 1989 selling just 1.8 million albums.

In the UK, the figure of 800,000 is more than the next 86 albums sales combined.

What is so significant of these statistics? Prior to release Adele announced that her new album would not be available on any subscription services, meaning you would have to buy it if you wanted to listen to it. People on monthly subscription services aired their discontent on social media but actually it probably fuelled the fire to engage people to go out and buy the album. Heck, there was even queues at HMV.

But what does this stance mean for future album releases and subscription services? It shows a weakness in the subscription model. The subscription model does not pay artists a fair share versus the potential earnings they might make from an album sale. Just think, there is no way Adele would have earned as much if she had allowed her new album to be available on subscription music services.

Do you think it was fair of Adele to ban 25 from being available from music subscription services?

Please allow a few minutess for all the photos to appear if they do not appear straight away. Click on all footage to gain access to the original version.

FitBit just released a super cool update to its software – details

There is no denying the impact the FitBit Charge HR has made on my personal wellbeing. It has been the single most effective device at making me fitter and motivating me more. Add to the fact it works really well with third party services like MyFitnessPal and you have a great combo.

I wrote a review of the FitBit Charge HR using it with MyFitnessPal. Click HERE.

However, since this review FitBit has updated the software several times, but the last update is really fantastic.

Now detection is made automatically for walks, runs, outdoor biking sessions, elliptical training, “high-movement” sports and aerobic workouts.

This means no going into the app settings to select the exercise mode etc.. This new feature is fantastic in use. Now the FitBit detects sleep, activity and all your exercises without lifting a finger!

This new update has arrived for iOS and Windows users. The android update is coming soon.

Huawei Mate 8 – is 6 inches too big? Plus details of specifications

w704

Huawei have announced the Huawei Mate 8, a 6 inch screen slab of phone with the following specs –

– 6-inch 1080p display spec covering 95 percent of NTSC gamut.
– 2.5D glass
– new octa-core Kirin 950 chipset, 16nm FinFET+ CPUs (4 x Cortex-A72 and 4 x Cortex-A53), ARM’s flagship Mali-T880 GPU and integrated LTE Cat 6 modem
– Fingerprint sensor on rear – new advanced sensor able to read 3rd level of detail
– 16mp rear camera plus dedicated image processor
– Colours – Champagne Gold, Moonlight Silver, Space Gray and Mocha Brown
– Android 6 with Emotion UI
– Pricing in China $500 for 3GB RAM /32GB of storage, $690 for 4GB RAM / 128GB of storage.
– 4,000mAh battery

The specs stack up on paper to potentially translate to a fine beast of a device. But we will see this over in the UK?

My main grip is its size. As a phablet, a 6 inch screen is pushing the boundaries of what is acceptably comfortable to hold in one hand, and with the need to use the fingerprint sensor on the rear, could translate to a very awkward in hand experience.

However, on paper and based on the outlined specs and press renders it sure looks like a fine piece of kit. Will 2016 be the year Huawei overtakes Samsung?
