Virgin Media have the iPhone 4S available for £19 per month with no upfront cost on a 24 month contract. That’s a total cost of £456.
Carphone Warehouse is not far behind at £22 per month.
Just shows you can now get an iPhone on a low budget if you look around.
Blackberry Co-Founder sells large amount of his BlackBerry shares
Not so long ago, BlackBerry co-founder Mike Lazaridis had so much faith in the company he helped build then watch it collapse, that he considered a bid to purchase the struggling business.
However, clearly he has had second thoughts and sold 3.5 million of its shares reducing his stake from 5.7% to under 5%.
The future of BlackBerry is rapidly changing as it has now said it will not manufacture handsets itself but pass on that aspect to Foxconn. It has also cancelled its BlackBerry developer conference.
The future of BlackBerry as we knew it clearly is not going to be the same in 2014.
The iPhone 5S battery life – part 3
So with some major tweaking I got the following battery life yesterday.
So is this a decent battery runtime. I’m sure Apple claim 8 hours and not 6.
As a comparison, the Moto G has done 16 hours 31 mins and the battery is at 82%.

WhatsApp gets annoyed with other messaging statistics – sets the record straight
There are many messaging clients and the cool thing at present is for the different clients is to state now many users they have. Except having people signed up is different to actually using a service.
So WhatsApp got fed up with other messaging clients saying they had millions and millions of users and has decided to lay down the gauntlet by stating they have 400m active users.
WhatsApp has a very good business model. Cross platform and free for the first year and then just £1 a year.
Why I hate my iPhone 5S but love my Moto G when it comes to battery life
This isn’t an android vs Apple post, so if you comment like it is be warned I will delete your comment 🙂
This is merely highlighting a major frustration I have with the iPhone 5S. I am a power user. I now have 245 apps installed on my iPhone which is a reduced number, as following my last post on this, I looked at the number of apps using notifications and background services and removed at least one third.
And no matter what I try and do, I need a charger around 1pm otherwise by 3pm it will be flat. Not an issue if near a charging point, but it seems pointless having a smartphone that can’t last 24 hours. Not that smart really! The only consolation is the iPhone 5S charges really really fast.
Turning to the Moto G, it lasts a full 36 hours or more. And this is just bliss. In fact, I have managed to get 3 days out of one battery charge. Take yesterday for example, the battery level has only dropped 18% from 7am to 11pm on the Moto G.
I don’t want bigger, better cameras and screens, I want phones that last 3 days on one charge. Maybe a phone with light cells built in to the fabric/shell that recharge it. Battery technology really needs to leap forward to keep up with mobile demand usage.
China Mobile and Apple finally ink a deal
Negotiations can often be drawn out but this one certainly has been for many years. But now Apple can sell its iPhone to China Mobile’s 750m users.
The official statement released –
“Apple’s iPhone is very much loved by millions of customers around the world. We know there are many China Mobile customers and potential new customers who are anxiously awaiting the incredible combination of iPhone on China Mobile’s leading network. We are delighted that iPhone on China Mobile will support our 4G/TD-LTE and 3G/TD-SCDMA networks, providing customers with high-speed mobile service,” said Xi Guohua, China Mobile Chairman.
“Apple has enormous respect for China Mobile and we are excited to begin working together. China is an extremely important market for Apple and our partnership with China Mobile presents us the opportunity to bring iPhone to the customers of the world’s largest network,” said Tim Cook, Apple CEO. “iPhone customers in China are an enthusiastic and rapidly growing group, and we can’t think of a better way to welcome in the Chinese New Year than getting an iPhone into the hands of every China Mobile customer who wants one.”

Skydrive raises free cloud storage limit – details
If you use a Windows Phone you’re getting 7GB of free SkyDrive storage from Microsoft at present.
This used to be 25gb but the upper limit was lowered from 25GB, offered initially by Microsoft, to 7GB, back in April of last year. However, now you’re getting something back as Microsoft is offering an additional 25gb cloud free storage for one year. Well there is another way to describe this but I shall remain silent.
To receive this bonus space, which was removed a year ago, you need to follow the link in an email you will receive of should have received from Microsoft.
I sincerely hope this limit stays.
