HTC 10 – Featuring the Best Boomsound Ever! – The Latest

HTC have released a bold video claiming that their new flagship the HTC 10, which is being unveiled on the 12th April will have the best boomsound speakers and audio output via the headphone jack.

Not only that HTC have stated that the front and rear cameras will be world class. I imagine large pixels on both the front and back.

But that’s not all. HTC have also claimed that this new phone will be the fastest to operate. Lots of bold claims, lets hope HTC deliver a true flagship.

IFTTT has a new channel – LG Smartphone – Details – Updated

This made me stop for a minute. The IFTTT now has a new channel called LG Smartphone. If you have the new LG G5 or LG V10 you now have a new channel for recipes using one of these 2 LG smartphones.

IFTTT state “Get more out of the LG V10 and G5 by connecting your smartphone to hundreds of apps and devices.”

So for example you can create a recipe with IFTTT that when you enter a specific location, NFC gets switched on.

Apple iPad Pro 9.7 inch or the new Amazon Flagship Kindle?

Amazon’s CEO, Jeff Bezos tweeted that next week Amazon is going to release an “all-new, top of the line” Kindle.

Which begs the question, should you go for an e-reader just to read books or should you buy a more versatile device like the Apple iPad Pro 9.7 inch and install the Kindle app?

Personally, if I read lots of books are didn’t want too much eye strain, I would opt for one of the cheaper Amazon Kindle readers. This way when I read, I wouldn’t get any distractions.

However, I still think nothing beats reading a real book.

Samsung Galaxy S7 owners – New Camera Options now available

Some good news if you own a Samsung Note 5 and onwards, including the new Samsung Galaxy S7.

Camera FV-5 Pro app just received an update yesterday which included the following changes –

– New: complete rewrite of the app for the all the recent Samsung Galaxy devices (Note 5, S6, S6 edge, S6 edge+, S7, S7 edge). Smoother camera operation, more stable and faster RAW capture on all devices, manual focus and manual exposure up to 10 seconds on all devices.
– Fixed: limited picture resolution after some recent Samsung devices (S6/S7 series) got updated to Android 6. Thanks Samsung for ‘improving’ the experience for your users and making developer lives easier.

I haven’t had a chance to use it yet but I am interested to see what improvements it can bring over and above the default Samsung camera app.

LG G5 – Metal Unibody or Plastic or Something Else?

38297488-8a34-42c3-a8c2-32e38349507a

YouTuber “JerryRigEverything” decided to carry out a bend, burn and scratch test on the new LG G5. You can view the video below.

Following the scratch test he picked up that the body of the LG G5 was not metal but plastic. This story then got picked up by many other sites and spread wildly. And yet it was not true. Don’t forget these websites and YouTube bloggers make money from web traffic. Nothing wrong in that. So if they can report a story with a slant on it that gains more traffic it is always beneficial to them.

So following all the outrage, LG responded. So for the record the G5 is manufactured from patent pending aluminium LM201b, that was developed at the Korea Institute of Technology for use in the automobile and aircraft industries. The LM201b aluminium is special as unlike aluminium used in other smartphones, LM201b die cast unibody makes it sturdier and lighter. LG added that they then figured a way to integrate seamlessly the antenna bands into the aluminium and then applied a primer and paint using a process called microdizing. This means tiny particles of metal are fused into the aluminium. So what actually was being scratched off in these videos was the primer and paint. All cars get painted too.

So perhaps LG needed to add some fake weight to the phone to give the impression it is sturdier! Sometimes, a lighter phone doesn’t feel as premium when in fact it might be just the same or even better than the other phones on sale.

So what’s your verdict now you know the true facts ?

Microsoft to announce later today its new range of phones powered by Android

Probably of no surprises to anyone but later today Microsoft will be announcing a new range of phones powered by Android.

I wonder whether this will be based on Cyanogen.

The good news is that all the new range of phones will have access to all the latest apps.

As to pricing. More will be revealed later.

Update – This was an April Fools article.

Apple iPhone SE – Details of Hidden Sensor

Apple’s iPhone SE is now available to buy in all Apple stores.

However during a break down of all the internal components which revealed a lot of iPhone 6S components and a host of new parts, a hidden sensor was also discovered.

After further investigation, it appears this new sensor provides details on how hot a person looks.

Why is this in the iPhone SE? Well the iPhone SE is a phone that allows for someone’s hand to wrap totally around the phone thus allowing the special “hotness” sensor to take special readings.

Apple iPhone SE – First Impressions

So I happened to see the new iPhone SE yesterday.

I got to see all the different colours which also come with a matching dock. The dock is an extra cost but Apple certainly know how to make accessories look appealing.

Before you all shout out this is just an iPhone 5S, it really isn’t except in looks.  The internals are all updated but the most striking thing about holding the iPhone SE is its screen.

At first I thought I had picked up a demo fake model with a fake screen. The icons on the screen looked so crisp and clear I didn’t think for a split second that the phone was actually switched on. Then I swiped the home screen to move to another home screen and realised it was switched on.

The iPhone SE felt like a toy initially as it was so small. But then I started to play with it more and that one handed use is so so good. Here is a phone that doesn’t invade your life and that fits snuggly away in any pocket.

And then I looked at all the different finishes and decided which colour I preferred.

I nearly thought about going back to a small screen phone and how life could be again.

But I didn’t …. for now …..
