Facebook has announced Calibra, a brand new digital wallet that would see the social media giant handle your digital transactions and currency. It goes hand-in-hand with Libra, Facebook’s own cryptocurrency that they are working on, and would allow users to very easily share money with each other to buy things, split bills, or whatever else you might need.
Except, would you really trust facebook with your money?
Samsung is going to unveil the Galaxy Note 10 at the same location as they did for the Galaxy Note 9, the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
The Galaxy Note 10 via leaked renders earlier this month, pick up on the fact of the lack of a headphone jack. It also looks like Samsung is set to roll out two models — a standard version with a 6.28-inch screen, and a Pro variant with a massive 6.75-inch display.
In addition to the loss of the 3.5mm jack, Samsung is said to be getting rid of the Bixby button. Round the back, we’re likely to see four cameras, with the introduction of a time-of-flight module.
So what do you think of the new design and the lack of the 3.5mm headphone jack?
The U.S trade ban and continued war between China and Trump, has already impacted Huawei in a massive way. But now Huawei CEO went on record to reveal exactly the costs and more.
“Our revenue will be down by about $30 billion compared to forecasts. So our sales revenue this year and next will be about $100 billion,” Ren noted in a discussion in Shenzhen. The Huawei CEO expressed surprise at the extent of the U.S. trade ban.
“We didn’t expect the U.S. would so resolutely attack Huawei. We didn’t expect the U.S. would hit our supply chain in such a wide way, not only blocking the component supplies, but also our participation in international organisations,” Ren said.
Ren confirmed that Huawei’s international smartphone sales dipped by 40 percent as a consequence of the ban.
Ren, the Huawei CEO also said the firm was hoping to maintain its R&D budget, and steer clear of major asset sales or layoffs. In the case of the latter, Ren said Huawei would likely assign employees in non-core businesses to core businesses in a bid to avoid layoffs. Do you think Huawei will emerge from the U.S. ban as a stronger company? Let us know in the comments.
Google has lost its patience with carriers/networks. In a bold and dangerous move it has decided to force their hands and will roll out RCS messaging with or without them.
If you own an iPhone users, the biggest hurdle holding you back from switching to Android is iMessage. RCS messaging is the solution to this problem by bringing iMessage-like features to Android devices. But RCS will mean even iPhones might have to get this support, negating the need for iMessage even on an iPhone.
The problem so far has been that the various carriers around the world have been dragging their feet when it comes to rolling out RCS support. Google has been trying valiantly to push carriers to speed up the process, but things aren’t going much faster.
Now Google is throwing in the towel on getting the carriers to bring RCS to everyone. Google is just going to roll it out itself.
In a bizzare move Elon Musk just tweeted that he had deleted his twitter account, see tweet below. But why? He even replaced his avatar with the black logo above.
So why did Elon Musk tweet this? Well Elon is known for his twitter usage, and at the weekend got in a verbal war of words because he tweeted fan art of a video game character, without identifying the artist Meli Megali, or providing any credit back to the artist, he got into a trolling fight with the world, about his right to use footage without credit.
So Elon decided to tweet he had deleted his twitter account. Which he hasn’t, it’s still live. Twitter and Elon can be very entertaining, even if it does get him into trouble and cost his company millions of dollars in fines.
Who doesn’t like a Domino’s pizza? Domino’s are known for using tech in their ordering services with a quick and easy app. Now Domino’s are looking to take it to an all new level.
Domino’s will be putting some of its delivery drivers out of a job this year by rolling out a new wave of robot delivery vehicles in Houston, Texas.
The robot vehicles, made by the well-funded autonomous driving startup, Nuro, are entirely self-driving and can cart their cargo — in this case Domino’s pizza — via in-unit storage.
Once the robot arrives at its destination, customers must meet the vehicle and use a special pin provided to them upon ordering to unlock the hatch and collect their delivery.
Domino’s intend to start the trial in Houston, USA.
Like all clever ideas, has anyone thought what happens when there are not enough jobs for society due to advances in tech!
Huawei Technologies Co. is preparing for a 40% to 60% drop in international smartphone shipments as the Trump administration’s blacklisting hammers one of the Chinese tech giant’s most important businesses.
China’s largest technology company is crunching internal estimates and exploring options including pulling the latest model of its marquee overseas label, the Honor 20, people familiar with the matter say. The device begins selling in parts of Europe June 21 including France and the U.K., but executives are monitoring the launch and may cut off shipments if it sells poorly as expected, they said, asking not to be identified discussing internal matters. Already, two of France’s largest carriers aren’t bothering with the Honor at all, two people familiar with the matter said.
LumaFusion on iOS is my favourite video app. I have used it for years to produce my YouTube videos. The app is universal and works on iPhone and iPad.
The update on Sunday, consisted of an array of both engine and interface improvements. The app now supports double the number of tracks, from 6 now up to 12 — split between 6 video/audio and 6 audio-only tracks. Editors can additionally connect GNARBOX 2.0 backup SSDs, and the Photos Library supports nested folders in Album, Moments, and Media Types groups.
You can now push video to an external display, when in action, this makes room for denser editing and library views. Just imagine using your iPhone or iPad in this way. Plus if you have a keyboard, there are tons of keyboard shortcuts.
The UI has a whole has been revamped with things like a new timeline overview, and track headers that make it quicker to lock, hide, or mute. Colour coded markers can be used to flag and comment on important timestamps, and pressing and holding on the app’s new shuttle control will scrub at different speeds.
Smaller enhancements include help pop-ups, the inclusion of fonts in saved styles, and changes to trimming. It’s easier to trim clips on overwrite tracks with attached transitions, and trimming the head of a linked clip no longer re-links to a different clip.
How powerful is Luma Fusion. Well I tested Luma Fusion with 4K Pro Video Editing on an iPad Pro, iPad Air and Macbook Pro Core i7 to see which was fastest and more. Click HERE to read more and see the video.
LumaFusion put together a video of what’s new, but I can assure you its full list of what it can do is huge. It is currently being sold at its old price on the App Store but is going up soon by quite a margin.
Yesterday, Tim Cook delivered the commencement address at Stanford University. During the speech, Cook recalled Steve Jobs, talked digital privacy, and more.
14 years ago, Steve Jobs delivered the commencement address, so Tim Cook’s speech at Stanford today was made even more notable. The Apple CEO explained that Stanford and Silicon Valley have long been woven together, but that recent events demand some reflection.
Congratulations to the Stanford Class of 2019! It was an honor to celebrate with you today! 🎓 Be different. Leave something worthy. And always remember that you can’t take it with you. You’re going to have to pass it on. #Stanford19pic.twitter.com/GwW5UHslXD
