Confirmed key features of the iPhone 5S ahead of the launch

The Wall Street Journal has confirmed that the iPhone 5S will have a finger print scanner built in to the home button.

In addition the new iPhone will have an improved camera flash and low light operation.

It will run the latest version of iOS , iOS 7.

And in another miracle will apparently look identical to the outgoing iPhone 5.

The iPhone 5C, the new colour range plastic iPhone,  will not feature the fingerprint scanner.

With all these leaks and confirmations, why bother having a keynote speech?

iOS Traumatic Stress Disorder

Shortly Apple will release iOS 7 to the masses. Most people when they hit accept update to iOS 7 won’t realise how dramatically different the new iOS version is compared to the previous.

So it should come as no surprise that Apple is training its staff to deal with iOS Traumatic Stress Disorder. That is customers calling about their new look.

Just how the whole world will view the new look is unknown but I am sure Apple’s marketing team will create a campaign to make everybody desire the new look and functionality.

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 full details and new info from Samsung

Samsung has just unveiled 3 new products. The new Note 3, Note 10.1 2014 edition and Galaxy Gear Smartwatch.

Lets look at the Note 3 first.
Galaxy-Note-3-white

There will be two basic models one with a 2.3GHz Snapdragon 800 chipset and one that uses a 1.9GHz Exynos Octa-core SoC. Both will have Android 4.3 out of the box, a 13MP rear camera with Smart Stabilization, a 2MP front-facing shooter, 3GB RAM, your choice of 32 or 64GB internal storage, microSDXC support, IR LED, MHL 2.0, Bluetooth 4.0, WiFi 802.11a/b/g/n/ac and a 3,200mAh removable battery. LTE Cat4 support is also included (with up to six different band sets), along with quadband DC-HSPA+ 42Mbps and quadband GSM / EDGE. The rear camera is capable of recording UHD resolution at 30fps and full HD at 60fps.

The removable back battery cover is leather effect with stitching. The metal rim is still plastic like the S4. Other back covers will be available too.

The S-Pen has been updated too. Pulling the pen out of its hiding place triggers a feature called Air Command, which is a semi-circular menu that pops up and gives you a few quick options: Action Memo, Scrapbook, Screen Write, S Finder and Pen Window.

The end of an era – no iOS devices

Yesterday, the last remaining iOS device I owned got posted to its new owner. That was my iPad Mini. From the original iPod Touch 2g, iPhone 4, 4S, 5, iPad and iPad 2 all of these had hours of use. But now there is nothing.

Instead, I am all android with the Nexus 4 and Nexus 7. And it feels odd. I wonder if there will be anything new next week when Apple announce their new line up of iPhones?

What about yourself? Have to gone from one operating system to another?

Apple sends invites to Chinese media for special Sept. 11 event

One day after sending out invites to press in the US for its iPhone event scheduled for September 10 in Cupertino, Apple has just sent invites to Chinese media outlets inviting press to a special event in the country on September 11.

Not only will it be the first time Apple hosts such an event in China, it is also a good indication that China Mobile, the world’s largest telecom, could soon finally announce a deal with Apple to bring the iPhone to its approximately 700M subscribers.
