Three UK launches inTouch app – wifi calling over the internet – links for iOS and android

Three UK launches wifi calling app over the internet for iOS and android users.

Sometimes it’s difficult to get a good signal when you’re indoors. So we’ve created Three inTouch, the smart new app that lets you call and text whenever you’re on Wi-Fi, even if there’s no mobile signal.

You can use your Three number as normal – there’s no messing about with logins or passwords – and all calls and texts come out of your existing monthly price plan or Pay As You Go credit

•Call and text whenever you’re on Wi-Fi, even where there’s no signal.
•Free App, just download and activate.
•No extra charges. Calls and texts come from your monthly price plan or Pay As You Go credit.
•Make and receive calls using your normal Three number to anyone on any network.

And with the recent introduction of Wi-Fi on the London Underground, you know what this means don’t you? Yep, you’ll be able to make a call whilst on an underground platform. Which is sure to draw attention from fellow commuters!

The simple-to-use Three inTouch app is offered free to all our Contract, SIM and Pay As You Go customers. It’s so easy to activate and use. Just download the Three inTouch app onto your iPhone and you’ll stay connected whenever you have Wi-Fi.

Cheap Chinese Phones are being sold preloaded with SPYWARE

20140726-153010-55810199.jpg

The BBC reports that the Star N9500 handset was being sold for about £120 on eBay
and Amazon.

However, EBay is barring listings for a smartphone after reports the model is pre-installed with spyware in its Chinese factory.

A German security firm reported on Tuesday that the Android-powered Star N9500 sent personal data to a computer server in China, adding that the Trojan could not be removed.

It said the malware was disguised as the legitimate Google Play Store app.

The handset remains on sale on Amazon, which could not be reached for comment.

But eBay said it was rolling out the ban globally.

“Due to reports that some Star 9500 smartphones are loaded with spyware, eBay is not allowing the sale of these devices as a precautionary measure,” a spokesman told the BBC. In addition, this phone prevented security updates being installed!

Other reports include other Chinese phones that have malware(worms) installed on the sd card.

Samsung Galaxy K Zoom – one last point

I have had the Samsung Galaxy K Zoom for over 6 weeks now as I mentioned in my final conclusion post last week.

However, I do have one beef with the K Zoom which I forgot to mention. Somehow, and on a regular basis, a film of dirt seems to appear on the lens. I did wonder why the user manual mentioned wiping the lens from time to time. Now I know why! The annoying part is that I didn’t realise this until I examined all my photos from a day out and realised most were ruined. So now, before I start a session, I check the lens.

Apart from that it is a unique piece of kit which I intend to keep for a very long time.

Samsung announces it’s own developer conference – should Google be worried ?

20140724-070553-25553197.jpg
Samsung has announced its own developer conference on 11-13th November at the Moscone West Center, San Francisco.

So should Google be worried by Samsung’s constant push towards its own app stores, tizen and other breakaway hardware? Does Samsung need Google or does Google need Samsung? What would happen if Samsung broke away totally from android? There are lots of possibilities and options and clearly Samsung is trying to keep all it’s options open.

The only reason for Samsung not unchaining itself from Google is its existing users have invested in apps bought from the Google Play store and other midday also bought from the Google Play Store. But if Samsung could find a way of assisting the loss on to its own platforms, the conflict ahead would be fascinating between these two superpowers of tech.
