Desperation – HTC’s new Advert takes aim at Samsung and Apple Users

HTC America released the following advert which is meant to take the “biscuit” out of iOS Apple iPhone, Samsung and other phone users. The advert is for a fictional drug called Cellami which is supposed to help someone suffering from Bi-phonal Displeasure Disorder. HTC digs at Samsung by claiming Cellami can also treat SAD, or Samsung Affective Disorder, and at Apple which produces iOS, or Irritable Operating System. The digs continue even more than what I’ve written too.

Have a look for yourself, but I think it reeks signs of desperation and dreadful poor taste.

Samsung Galaxy Gold S6 Edge – First Impressions – Updated

Currently, I am setting up my gold S6 Edge.

All I can say is what an amazing finish, design and look. I previously was using the S6 (standard version) in the black finish. But the curved screen in my opinion looks nicer.

So if you have any questions let me know and I will update this post with the answers later.

Updated –

I have been really busy so last night was really my first chance to start setting up my S6 Edge in Gold. I had thoroughly enjoyed my time using the standard S6 and using my Note 4 since it got lollipop.

I setup my S6 in stages. Firstly restoring around 60 apps and entering as many user names and passwords. The Edge did get warm during this process but not crazy hot! Overnight, I selected the large sized games to restore, around 40. This morning, Inner World had failed to download properly, so the 806mb download is trying again.

I then have to decide on 10gb of music to move across and then choose a selection of my favourite photos to copy across too. The last part of the process is tidying everything up in folders, tweaking my home screen and checking every app has been setup properly along with all the games. This whole process will be broken up over the weekend to complete.

Last night, I used the Edge as a night clock using the Edge Clock. Worked as described but I did notice the main display side seemed to have a slight white glow to it. Not an issue but the Note 4 Edge phone never did this.

I also have a Samsung S6 Edge Gold Protective case that covers the bottom and corners of the phone. This is a lovely case and ideal as the camera hump is no longer protruding. Qi Wireless charging is not affected with this case fitted. The gold finish in my mind is totally gorgeous and along with the Edge curved edges makes this phone the most stylish device I have ever owned. More soon.

PS. I will update this post with photos of the phone and case when it is daylight. Currently middle of the night!

Samsung Note 4 – Boom Lollipop has arrived – My observations

Yesterday morning, Lollipop arrived “Over the Air” for my Samsung Note 4. This was a UK Unlocked Sim Free phone (BTU). I had waited patiently for this update, and to be honest was in no rush to update from Kit Kat as I was happy to allow third party developers to update their apps whilst I remained on a stable firmware.

The download was substantial at 930mb and took about 40 mins to install. Several error messages subsequently appeared after the update. These were cured by updating Google Play Services and addressing some of the new setting options. This followed by 2 soft resets has so far seemed to fixed all the error messages. Currently, the only noticeable downside is rapid battery drain. However, this is to be expected following a firmware flash.

So what is the difference with lollipop. Predominately the key standout difference is speed. The Note 4 is fast now. This becomes really noticeable in the camera burst mode. Hardly any delay whatsoever, meaning I took 100 shots of my dogs running last night and most were in focus. Sample from a burst shot below.

In fact the camera took some marvellous photos last night. 2 samples below.

Touchwiz is lighter and cleaner in style. Shame there are no themes and that the optional grid layouts (4×4, 4×5, 5×5) are not available as they are on the Samsung Galaxy S6. The Samsung Email app like the camera and all the other apps open noticeably faster.

I have just received a S6 Edge to replace the S6, but after the Note 4 update to Lollipop, I must be honest and wonder whether it is indeed necessary to change. That large screen on the Note 4 is fabulous, along with the S Pen, camera and more!
