Is this the start of a new trend – jail broken iPhones cannot fire in Deus Ex The Fall

Gamers with jailbroken iOS devices who have purchased or otherwise acquired the new game Deus Ex: The Fall are running into a problem when they attempt to play: they can’t fire any guns, a key part of the game.

With piracy so rampant clearly this is one way to battle the problem. But will it alienate honest people who bought the title. Or is it a smart move? Or is it just a publicity stunt to gain more media attention for their game!

It features a 4.5-inch display, a 41-megapixel PureView camera, a xenon flash and optical image stabilization, 2GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage with no memory card slot, NFC and an optional back plate that supports wireless charging. But the specs noted below don’t reveal the true potential of this beast of a phone. There should be a 64gb version as well.

I have to say I am very keen to try this phone especially with its powerful camera. Would you want to own this, even though it runs Windows Phone 8?

HTC One – don’t panic its repairable

Those who have bought the HTC One probably have been very careful not to drop the unibody designed phone, especially after it was given a 1/10 score for repairability.

However, it appears HTC had a hidden feature, and that is with a special tool it is as easy to repair as the next phone. Only that you cannot do this yourself at the moment, it can only be fixed by HTC themselves.

Chrome on android receives big update – full details

Google Chrome web browser has just received a big update.

Chrome for Android Update 28.0.1500.64 contains a number of new features including:

Google Translate – When reading web pages in other languages, Chrome will automatically detect and offer to translate them to your language
Fullscreen on tablets – Similar to phones, simply scroll down the page and the toolbar will disappear.
New user interface for right-to-left (RTL) languages – An optimized interface for RTL languages including Arabic, Farsi, and Hebrew
Plenty of stability and performance fixes

I have been using the beta on my Sony Z tablet and the auto translate is fantastic. I was shopping online with a German retailer, but everything was translated into English in a few seconds.

iPhone no longer being sold in Russia by largest mobile operator – Windows Phone rules

OAO Mobile TeleSystems, Russia’s largest mobile operator has supposedly dropped Apple’s iPhone in protest over the high costs involved in subsidizing the phone.

But in case you are wondering, it is able to do this as sales of Windows Phone 8 have equalled that of the iPhone.

Clearly, another sign of the iPhone’s high costs being hard to swallow in a tough economic climate. And great news for Windows Phones.

The latest information on the Samsung Galaxy Note 3

Once again, as we get closer to release dates more and more information is getting leaked on new devices. No more surprises!

Except, this leak came from Samsung with information reveal in a WAP provisioning file on Samsung’s own mobile website.

This confirmerd the existence of the SM-N900T and SM-N900A, two model numbers known to refer to the Galaxy Note III. The files also show that the new Note will feature a full HD 1,080 x 1,920-pixel display and an ARM11 processor. Earlier reports suggested that the phone will also include 3GB of RAM, a 13-megapixel camera, Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean and improved S Pen support. A 5.7 inch screen and support for Advanced LTE.

Lets hope there is more to this phone than meets the eye.

Dropbox takes on Apple’s iCloud

At the Dropbox Developers conference, Dropbox announced a new API.

Dropbox’s new Datastore API will allow users to store and sync any kind of application data — that includes game states, contacts and to-do lists.

So when you make your to-do list on your iPad while commuting on the train, and then open your computer at home, it will be synced with all your Dropbox-enabled apps on that device.

This should really help accelerate Dropbox usage. On the HTC One, the HTC Backup service actually uses Dropbox to backup the phone already apart from auto uploading photos.

This is another great offering from Dropbox.

Yahoo and Dropbox join services to challenge Gmail and Google Drive

Dropbox and Yahoo! announced that they will be integrating their services to offer seamless file attachments in the Yahoo! Mail Android app. This is to challenge what Google offers with Gmail and Google Drive. Users that authenticate with their Dropbox account from within the Yahoo! Mail app will now be able to select either local or Dropbox files from the “attach” menu, and simply send out files that are stored in the cloud.

The update should appear soon in the Google Play store for the Yahoo Mail app.
