Samsung clarifies on its website how the Region Sim-Locked Note 3 operates

Head over to Samsung’s UK website http://www.samsung.com/uk/consumer/mobile-devices/galaxy-note/smartphones/SM-N9005ZWEBTU-reviews/ask-and-answer and you will see the following answer in the Q and A.

Question. Will i be able to use my phone abroad with a different sim? i travel to Malaysia soon from UK for a few months and plan to buy a local sim card to use. I have heard rumors this isnt the case and so i would like to ensure that i can get a full refund if i cannot use my phone in another country on a local sim. These details are no where to be found on your website and also nothing is mentioned in the specs on the wesbite i bought my phone from.

Hi,

The regional lock means the product is only compatible with a SIM card issued from a mobile operator within the region identified on the sticker of the product package.

Once a device is activated normally, the regional SIM lock is automatically released.

Thanks.

Shop and Print in 3D at Asda’s York store

3D printing service is being trialled at Asda in York before being rolled out nationwide.

Anything can be scanned, including people, then a digital model is created
This detailed design is sent away to be printed in 3D ceramic.

Scanner picks up individual colours and works out proportions exactly.

Models can be scaled to whatever size the customer wants and start at £40.

This sounds like a good idea and certainly cheaper than buying your own 3D printer.

Nintendo goes direct in the UK – details

Nintendo has decided to sell its wares direct in the UK via its online store. Click here http://store.nintendo.co.uk/home.dept

ninukstore

Nintendo’s UK online shop will offer limited edition 3DS consoles and figurines, free delivery (orders over £200 qualify for next day) and 12-month extended warranties for consoles. Is this a sign of desparate measures to boost sales or a genius move?

Another new phone from Samsung – The Galaxy Ace 3

ace3

Samsung confirmed that the Ace 3, the successor to the cheap and popular Ace 2, will launch first on EE, and then be available from independent retailers, including Carphone Warehouse, Phones 4U and Tesco.

The Ace 3 has a 4-inch WVGA TFT capacitive touchscreen, a 1.2GHz dual-core Cotrex A9 processor, a Broadcom VideoCore IV GPU, 1GB of RAM, 4GB of internal storage (expandable up to 64GB via microSD) and a 1,800 mAh battery.

The device ships running Android 4.2 Jelly Bean with the latest version of Samsung’s TouchWiz UI plastered over the top.

Just 4gb of internal memory on an android device is just not enough.

Pantech takes on the Samsung Note 3 with the 5.9 inch Vega Secret Note

Pantech launches fingerprint-scanning Vega Secret Note, a 5.9 inch phone with Snapdragon 800, 3GB RAM, stylus, a Snapdragon 800 SoC, 1080p display, 13-megapixel main camera, and 1080p-capable front-face, a 3200mAh battery, and 32GB internal storage. The Secret Note will ship running Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. And guess what a finger print scanner will be on the rear of the device.

I must admit, all these specs become a blur. I ask the questions so what! What are the real benefits of one spec after another unless it provides proper value to the customer.

It seems like a cheap take on the Note 3.

Another problem with the iPhone 5S motion sensor

Apart from reports of the motion sensors being off by a few degrees there is another by product problem arising from this inaccuracy.

According to CNET and a few other benchmark sites, the iPhone 5S’ motion sensor being prone to being a few degrees off, means that the GPS is not as accurate as it needs to be.

The issue is currently being dissected by a large number of users who are trying to get to the bottom of the motion sensing malfunction, as some believe that the GPS could lead some users to a very dangerous place if it’s not fixed.
