The tempered glass protector is shown above fitted to my Note 3 but if you look at the bottom left hand side it looks like I left smudges. I had several attempts at installing this to get it straight, but I am still keeping this one fitted as in use with the screen on you don’t notice it. I have had no issues with S-Pen either. Superb idea.

At some point in the future I will fit the ultra clear protector by Brando, but based on my earlier devices these have always worked a treat.

Confession – Apple will fix the random reboots

Apple is vowing to fix the issue that results in the iPhone soft-rebooting randomly. That issue has plagued many users, particularly on the latest batch of A7-powered, 64-bit device.

Just frustrating that when I had several visits to the Genius Bar and telephone support calls with Apple they refused to admit it was an issue with my 5S.

Brando Shopping sell a great case for the fitness types or those that like having a case strapped to their arm. Whilst this case is stated as being waterproof I would be careful as rain could come thru from underneath via the flaps as shown on the photos. Showerproof more likely I would have thought.

Alternatives to LogMeIn – updated

Over on twitter discussions were occurring over LogMeIn alternatives.

Kevin Wright suggested Team viewer.

TeamViewer is a key LogMeIn Pro/Free competitor, TeamViewer still comes in a freebie version for individuals. If you’ve been using LogMeIn, this should be a straightforward rip and replace. Best of all, TeamViewer has clients for Windows, Android, iOS, Windows Phone and even Windows 8/RT. It’s really well-supported regardless of which platform(s) you prefer.

Or you can use Chrome Remote Desktop. This is a chrome Web browser extension and with this you can remote access your PC or MAC via the Chrome Web browser.

Update – I have also found Splashtop. Its not free, but for just over £3 in the Google Play store it is the solution I have now settled on.

2 new iPhone’s arriving in new screen sizes

If the Wall Street Journal is to be believed the next iPhone will feature 2 new screen sizes. The Wall Street Journal stated –

” Facing competition from rivals offering smartphones with bigger screens, Apple Inc. plans larger displays on a pair of iPhones due for release this year, people familiar with the situation said.

The people said Apple plans an iPhone model with a screen larger than 4½ inches measured diagonally, and a second version with a display bigger than 5 inches. Until now, Apple’s largest phone has been the 4-inch display on the iPhone 5.

Both new models are expected to feature metal casings similar to what is used on the current iPhone 5S, with Apple expected to scrap the plastic exterior used in the iPhone 5C”

Odd this news appears before MWC and Samsung’s Galaxy S5 press release.

Another rumour which seems impossible to be true is that it will be 3mm thick.

Brando Shopping iPhone 5/5S Leather Back case review

The Leather Back case from Brando Shopping cost $10 which is a fraction of the official Apple Leather case.

Unlike the Apple Leather case it’s a one piece plastic with leather effect. IMO it looks great in the red finish and will look not discolour like the Apple case does.

LogMeIn discontinues free service

Press release from LogMeIn-

After ten years, LogMeIn’s free remote access product, LogMeIn Free, is going away.  We will be unifying our portfolio of free and premium remote access products into a single offering.  This product will be a paid-only offering, and it will offer what we believe to be the best premium desktop, cloud and mobile access experience available on the market today. We will be notifying those impacted by the change in the coming days and weeks.  In the meantime, we wanted to take a minute to explain the change and help users of LogMeIn’s access products better understand what this means for them.

Notification period

Impacted users will be notified via email and in-product messages.  While messaging started today, users will be given 7 days to make a purchase decision about LogMeIn Pro.  To be clear, the 7-day grace period starts when you next login to the LogMeIn service.

Such a shame as this is such a good product.

Brando Shopping – Simplism Aluminism Bumper Style for iPhone 5s – review

When I ordered these accessories my iPhone 5S was the best thing since sliced bread, but now I have the Samsung Note 3 and some fantastic iPhone accessories. Oh the irony.

Anyway, I ordered this bumper case from Brando Shopping and as cases go I really like this one. It’s a aluminium bumper with a difference as it offers a 20% stand viewing angle. And all without removing the case from the iPhone. You have to be careful when sliding the iPhone into position but it didn’t harm my phone at all. However, I would not want to be constantly moving the iPhone in and out. But it sure does look lovely.
