Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge – The best action shots possible – photo gallery

I recently used the LG G4 to snap incredible action shots with my 3 labradors. Click here to see the G4’s action shot gallery – https://gavinsgadgets.com/2015/06/03/lg-g4-incredible-fast-action-shots-from-the-g4-camers/

I was very impressed with the LG G4’s photos, especially as the lighting was not brilliant. So the next step was obvious. See what the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge could accomplish.

Some important points before you view the gallery below. The lighting conditions for the S6 Edge were absolutely perfect. Beautiful blue skies, no glare or cloud. I also noticed the file sizes in better lighting increase on the S6 Edge in burst mode. In poor light you might see just under 3mb. But with excellent lighting the file size increases to just under 5mb. Still not a patch on the G4 burst file size of 7.9mb. Another observation using the burst mode is the speed to launch it. On the S6 Edge it is super quick. The phone takes up to 30 shots in a burst, saves them and is ready instantly for the next burst and the next burst without any delay. The G4 on the other hand after a few burst sequences in a row, will need a few seconds to save the shots.

I was very pleased with these shots. Some really fast shutter speeds around 1/1000 which froze the water in several photos. The G4 burst shots in my opinion are better, but you cannot be disappointed with any of these photos below!

Photo Filters – Part 2 – LG G4 vs Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge

Yesterday I posted an article challenging does the quality matter if you use a photo filter. I was asked to show the 2 photos and how both phones photos looked after applying the same filter with each.

First up from the LG G4, processed in Photoshop Express using the Autumn filter.

And next scene processed with same filter but using the S6 Edge.

Ok, lets use Snapseed, HDRscape filter on both. LG G4 first.

So which do you prefer, and does it matter?

Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge – 22% Battery drop in 28 mins

When something goes wrong and the S6 Edge starts radiating heat,  the battery just free falls.  Screen on time is 14 mins.

Somehow, 17 hours usage remaining is far too optimistic.

The only cure is to reboot the phone to stop the rogue app or process. When it does get this warm and the battery plummets you will notice performance lags a lot.

All this happened after I got an error message saying Google Play Services had stopped.

The software update to fix these memory bugs can’t come soon enough.

How to become a Super Hero with the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge

“SAMSUNG FINDS THE FORMULA FOR THE ULTIMATE SUPER HERO”

“Strength, intelligence and technology feature in the formula of what makes a Super Hero.”

Researchers found that the ultimate formula for a Super Hero is:

“Strength + Intelligence + Technology + Speed + Likeability + Superpowers + Morality = Super Hero

The formula was developed in line with the launch of Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron, which recently recorded the biggest opening weekend of 2015, in which Samsung technology including the brand new Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge smartphone, features heavily.

The study of 2,000 Brits found that strength (79%) and intelligence (71%) were both rated more highly than actual super powers, showing that being a Super Hero is not all about flying and x-ray vision. Similarly morality (57%) and likeability (45%) both make the formula ahead of traditional Super Hero traits like a Super Hero outfit or a catchy name, with more women (51%) than men (39%) valuing likeability in their hero.

When it came to the super powers we would like ourselves, it was invisibility that topped the list for both men and women, with 23% of the vote, followed by time travel (19%). Technology features highly in the make-up of a Super Hero, with Super Hero cars (30%) topping the list of “super gadgets” Brits would most like to have, followed closely by Virtual Reality headsets (17%).

Conor Pierce, Vice President IT and Mobile, Samsung Electronics UK and Ireland, said:

“Super Heroes have fascinated us for generations, with some of Marvel’s originals remaining firm favourites for decades. What is really interesting is how they have developed as society has developed, seeing technology and morality up there in the list of what makes the ultimate Super Hero is a real testament to that.

“Samsung’s collaboration with Marvel is a perfect example of how the real world interacts with the fantasy world of Super Heroes. In fact, if you look at the elements of the formula such as strength, speed and intelligence these can be applied to our Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge handsets – they’re the Super Heroes of smartphones!

“The collaboration is designed to bring together two of the world’s most iconic multi-media brands, and means we’re able to bring unrivalled content, products and experiences to fans around the world.”

The formula can also be applied to “real life” Super Heroes, with nearly 60% of respondents saying that firemen most fit that combination of speed, strength, morality and technology.

The Samsung and Marvel collaboration gives consumers extraordinary exclusive content coupled with an unrivalled visual experience. As well as creating one of a kind mobile technology for the movie Samsung has developed a range of exclusive accessories featuring Marvel favourites for the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge handsets.

Update – I have now used the S6 Edge for a working day with the new firmware and it is a lot snappier, themes do not slow down the phone. However, I have still received one error message that an app had closed, so clearly the memory bug is only partically fixed. I believe lollipop 5.1 will fix the memory bug and add new features to the camera.

Samsung Galaxy Gold S6 Edge – First Impressions – Updated

Currently, I am setting up my gold S6 Edge.

All I can say is what an amazing finish, design and look. I previously was using the S6 (standard version) in the black finish. But the curved screen in my opinion looks nicer.

So if you have any questions let me know and I will update this post with the answers later.

Updated –

I have been really busy so last night was really my first chance to start setting up my S6 Edge in Gold. I had thoroughly enjoyed my time using the standard S6 and using my Note 4 since it got lollipop.

I setup my S6 in stages. Firstly restoring around 60 apps and entering as many user names and passwords. The Edge did get warm during this process but not crazy hot! Overnight, I selected the large sized games to restore, around 40. This morning, Inner World had failed to download properly, so the 806mb download is trying again.

I then have to decide on 10gb of music to move across and then choose a selection of my favourite photos to copy across too. The last part of the process is tidying everything up in folders, tweaking my home screen and checking every app has been setup properly along with all the games. This whole process will be broken up over the weekend to complete.

Last night, I used the Edge as a night clock using the Edge Clock. Worked as described but I did notice the main display side seemed to have a slight white glow to it. Not an issue but the Note 4 Edge phone never did this.

I also have a Samsung S6 Edge Gold Protective case that covers the bottom and corners of the phone. This is a lovely case and ideal as the camera hump is no longer protruding. Qi Wireless charging is not affected with this case fitted. The gold finish in my mind is totally gorgeous and along with the Edge curved edges makes this phone the most stylish device I have ever owned. More soon.

PS. I will update this post with photos of the phone and case when it is daylight. Currently middle of the night!
