OnePlus 6 – Just how good is the camera for taking photos?

The OnePlus 6 is a top specified phone, but its cameras have never been its highlight. With the OnePlus 6 can OnePlus have something to shout about.

Video. My first impressions of using the camera for video were extremely disappointing. The electronic video stabilisation would not work and the footage looked wobbly as hell. If you encounter this, just turn the phone off and on again. This was the fix required. Now video looks excellent and is super stabilised.

With photos, the camera was having trouble on and off with focusing. At this point, I was ready to return the phone. However, I had managed a few reasonable shots as below.

Since my first impression of using the phone for video and photos, a new firmware update landed, oxygen os 5.1.6. Apart from adding new functionality, the camera quality and camera focusing was vastly improved. So below are a few shots using the new firmware.

With difficult light due to the overcast and misty conditions, the OnePlus 6 was performing much better than expected.

With the dog shots, they were running, so good job by the phone to freeze the shots.

So following this firmware update, the camera is performing well. It will be interesting to see just how much more OnePlus can improve this phone!

OnePlus 6 vs Honor 10 vs Huawei P20 Pro – Camera Comparison – Photo & Video – A Winner is Picked!

Welcome to my camera review and comparison of the OnePlus 6 pitted against the Honor 10 and Huawei P20 Pro.

It is worth noting that the OnePlus 6 in 128gb storage is £519, the Honor 10 also with 128gb storage is £399 and the Huawei P20 Pro is £799. Whilst some deals might be available on these phones, the Honor 10 is £120 cheaper than OnePlus 6, and the Huawei P20 Pro is £180 more expensive than the OP6.

So take a look at the photos and vides, covering many modes. I have scored each shot with 3 points to the winner, 2 points for second and 1 points for last place. At the end, I total up and present the final scores and winner. What scores did you give each phone?

Below is some bonus footage from all 3 phones rear cameras!
