So you’ve been playing Fruit Ninja with your finger. Now it’s time to up the ante. Grab a Nokia Lumnia 920 which has a special screen, a knife and slice away. Whilst I wouldn’t recommend this personally, have a look at this YouTube video.
Let’s hope he had accidental damage insurance!
So Christmas is now long gone, and reports of companies performances over the festive season are coming to light.
One such company, is Barnes & Noble, who have reported a decline in sales over Christmas. To be honest, I am not surprised at all. If I was going to buy an ebook reader it would have to be a Kindle. In fact, I did just that and purchased the Kindle Paperwhite. But I did so in a bricks and mortar store, Waterstones.
It seems that Waterstones have adopted a clever strategy and are working with the market leader. I also find it a lot better to see and hold gadgets, so that I can fully appreciate its value good or bad.
The book market has consolidated and I expect it to shrink even further.
Today Apple are offering the Photo Cookbook – Quick and Easy and Amazon a free game called Doodle Hunt.
Both seem to be a reasonable offering.
You’ve downloaded an app. You’re keen to use it, then it suddenly asks you when you next open to download another app.
I find this so frustrating. And I am more than likely to delete the app that causes such messages.
Do these messages annoy you, or would you prefer more messages.
CES is near and there are leaks galore. What is clear is 5 inch plus phones are all the rage. Small is definitely out of fashion at the moment.
LG are releasing the Optimus G2, a massive 1080p 5.5 inch screen. It sure looks cool. I wonder what other surprises CES will hold.
iPhone5mod Iphone5mod has produced an ultra thin hybrid keyboard / game controller. It looks quite novel, but until there are more reviews and details of supported games, I remain somewhat cautious.
It’s only 2mm thing and attaches via magnets.
It looks cool, what do you think?
uswitch has completed research on the Xmas phone sales in the UK, and the result is proving very strong for Samsung. It features 6 phones in the top 10.
Actually Samsung take the top 3 slots, then the Nexus 4 and finally the iPhone 4S and 5 feature in 5th and 6th place.
Assuming uswitch’s data is accurate, it is not really surprising seeing the dominance of Samsung and the Nexus 4. Why? Price. They are available considerably cheaper than the iPhone 5. Important as the UK is in recession so people wallets are not as full at the moment. Also as a standalone offering the Samsung S3 and S2 are marvellous pieces of kit.
If the trend continues, Apple might feel the need to reduce their pricing.
Archos have just announced the TV Connect.
It future proofs your existing HDTV with this simple over-the-top box, with its a multi-gesture TV Touch remote with game control mapping providing a full multi-touch Android for TV experience. So suddenly you have Google Play store on your TV, video calling, Internet, Apps and Games with a game mapping tool, gesture controls, light wand control, as well as full keyboard for text entry.
The device has 8gb memory, a micro SD slot, HD camera, micro and normal USB slots, wifi, Ethernet, led notifications, mini hdmi , microphone and front camera. Archos have really nailed this one, and made the Apple TV box seem archaic.
I can’t wait to give this gadget a good road test. What do you guys think?
Just a quick note to let you know that the adverts that appear in my blog are not my doing, they are added by WordPress. To remove them I have to pay $30 a year. One reader has let me know how annoying they are, and to be honest I find them horrible too.
Can you reply in the comments and let me know your views please.
UPDATE – I’ve just paid WordPress $30 to remove the ads. Everything should look a lot better now. If you still see them let me know.
About a month ago I received the first stock of the Glif+ from Studio Neat. This product is really slick. It is a genius design and so good I keep thinking to myself why I didn’t think of it.
So what is the Glif and the Glif+. The Glif is a plastic mould that simply attaches to your iPhone 5 to allow you to then attach it to a tripod. I got a Glif+. This adds a further support for an even securer attachment to a tripod. See below.
I selected this option as I use my tripod on Dartmoor where the land is rugged and often very blustery. The great part is with the Glif+ you get another piece to attach it to a key ring ready for when you need to use it next.
But obviously you won’t be using it 24/7 with your tripod. But it has other uses. It can act as a stand for the iPhone 5 in either landscape or portrait. Ideal for watching movies or FaceTime calls.
This piece of kit has really transformed my iPhone photography and been my desktop stand attachment in my office.
