Sound Quality
I recently reviewed the new flagship bluetooth headphone from Bose, the Bose Quietcomfort 35. Click HERE to read the review. The Bose QC35 cost £100 less than the Sennheiser Momentum headphones and offer better noise cancellation. In fact the noise cancellation on the Bose QC35 is nothing short of miraculous. So I wondered how Sennheiser’s flagship bluetooth headphone would compare.
For starters the Sennheiser Momentums offer a hybrid noise cancellation system. It works but you can still hear noise outside as its not as powerful as that from the Bose QC35. The Sennheiser Momentum cost £100 more than the Bose QC35, costing £379. That is a lot of money! So what extra do you achieve and are they worth £379?
The Sennheiser Momentum are luxuriously built bluetooth headphones with leather pads filled with memory foam, providing superb comfort when worn. APT-X is included for devices that support this standard. The key aspects is the audio quality and the Sennheiser Momentums do not fail to disappoint. They possess superb high quality audio reproduction via bluetooth. As closed back headphones, the music stays within your ears. Bass is fast, deep and punchy. Mids and treble are fantastic.
Connect the supplied audio cable and the sound is even better. I then used an iBasso D14 Headphone amp/dac with these and reproduced even better audio quality. Call quality is excellent. Personally, I have not heard any better sounding bluetooth headphones. But are they worth £379. No I think Sennheiser has been a little greedy. These should be nearer the £300 mark. However, at the moment there is no other option if you want the best audio quality.
Conclusion
The Sennheiser Momentum are expensive bluetooth headphones with noise cancellation. However, they are one of the best sounding headphones and extremely comfortable.

How would you compare these with the QC35 if you could get them 100€ cheaper than the QC35’s?, this is the situation right now in Sweden and I am debating wether or not the Sennheisers are better for me, sitting with the Bose on right now but I am thinking about returning them for the Sennheisers considering that they are in fact cheaper right now that the Bose.

Different headphones TBH. The Bose audio/phone controls are the easiest to use and have the ultimate noise cancellation. The Sennheiser sound better but don’t have as good as noise cancellation as the Bose. Personally, I kept the Sennheiser over the Bose. However, if I was travelling a lot around planes and trains etc, then I would opt for the Bose.

Thank for taking time to answer, might just have to try out the Senneheisers to really make a decision, loving the Bose so far though but as I said, Sennheisers are for some weird reason cheaper right now.

Sennheiser headphones do go on offer sometimes. Maybe because they have the new PXC 550 noise Cancelling Headphones just out.

So, I went out and got the Sennheisers and returned the Bose, both headphones are very good at what they do, I am keeping the Sennheisers though. Slightly better sound for my taste.

When folded and stored in the carrying case, how does the M2 compare to the bose? Have limited space in my bag so portability is a big factor for me also. Over here in my country, the Qc35’s are priced the same as the m2’s. lol.

The Sennheiser when folded take up more room in their bag slightly. Also make sure the price you’re comparing to the Bose is for the over ear version and not the on ear Sennheiser model.

Glad to hear that. In pictures and videos, the QC35’s carrying case looked way more compact than the M2’s. Yep it’s the correct model. Bose products here are just marked up insanely higher. M2’s are retailing for about SRP. Thanks for the input! Glad I discovered your site.

Hi. I got a really gooood answers from you befor. But unfortunately i caughtup in my post graduation didnt got an over ear headphone.
Now am loonking for a wireless headphone.
Am really confused with senheiser momentum wireless 2.0,sony mdr 1000x,plantronics backbeat pro plus
What really matter to me is the sound quality, Descent features and descent anc
The price in india is, Sony and senheiser costs ₹24000(aprox above 350$),plantronics costs ₹15000(approximately above 235$)

Sony is best for ANC and quality. Sennheiser has good quality weaker ANC. Plantronics comes 3rd.

Anc is not as important as littly bassy sound… i mean i need a little fun sound. Momentum has it, i dont know about sony. (i het these from online reviews. Not actual experience
I s there any other bluetooth options other than these for me?
Also momentum doesnt have anc off button. Also no way to listen to ambient sound without removing headphone, am i right?

Then go for the Plantronics. More bass and fun sound plus ANC can be on or off. I prefer these myself. Sony is more neutral out of the bunch.

What relly matters to me is the sound quality… is there any advantage of hi res cirtification?
Mdr has it.
I intent to use the headphone in wired mode whenever possible. So good wired sound quality is needed.
Really plantronics have the soumd quality of momentum 2.0 wireless?

SQ in wired mode. Sony first. Sennheiser and last Plantronics. Hi Res makes a difference. With Sony you need for Bluetooth a LDAC player. Some Sony phones have it and walkmans.

Am a note 5 user. now am all confused again.momentum doest have a anc on-off button and no way to listen to the surrounding. Sony hi fi will be totally disabled for my note 5.plantronics is a bad headphone i think.
is it ok to ask and ask about headphones, non stop?

In order of Sound Quality –
– Sony
– Sennheieser
– Plantronics
Now decide on price vs features. If you are using a Note 5 without an external amp, then go for the Sennheisers as in wired mode they probably should sound slightly better.
