Happy New Year everyone! Wishing you all a healthy and happy 2016.
WordPress provides an annual report each year and I thought I would share some of this information with you with some added commentary.
I started Gavin’s Gadgets in late December 2012 frustrated by the lack of independent tech and gadget websites. Many had closed or lost interest and my usual places to publish my reviews had ceased to exist. So just before Christmas Eve 2012, I downloaded the WordPress app on my iPad and 10 minutes later was up and running. At that point in time, I had no idea where my blog would venture or even if it would last more than a few months.
Move forward 3 years and it has grown exponentially EVERY YEAR with 2015 being an ever bigger surprise to the year before, which was in its own right was just as crazy in growth and readership.
As I said ,2015 was another amazing year and thanks to so many of you helping, commenting across all social media, and even picking up on my odd typo 😀
I would like to also thank all the people, PR companies, podcasters, online stores and my competitors who have supported Gavin’s Gadgets. I would also like to thank my wife for all her support and patience while I typed one post after another!
Apart from readers in the UK, USA and Germany, the top spots comprised of India, Canada, Australia, France, Sinapore, European Union, Netherlands, Indonesia, Italy, Sweden, Poland, Spain, Malaysia, Philippines, Finland, Brazil and Turkey.
I have read down the list of all 203 countries and it just shows how much reach the Internet has nowadays. The diversity and selection of the countries visiting Gavin’s Gadgets covers the entire planet Earth.
In 2015 I published 987 posts, with over 100 reviews. With nearly 4,000 posts, using the search icon near the top right will reveal information on most tech stuff. I have also noticed that even articles written in 2013 are read regularly. WordPress stated in their annual report that “Your writing has staying Power”.
I can’t believe I had a day off on 7th May 2015 to break 365 days continuous posting! In fact since Dec 2012 there has been new posts or reviews every day.
During the course of 2015 I extended the social platforms where Gavin’s Gadgets could be reached. It now covers Twitter, Google+, Facebook, Tumblr, Pinterest, Instagram and Flickr. And finally in November 2015 appeared in Apple News.
In 2016, additional focus will be occur with virtual reality, audio, photography and connected home devices. This will be in addition to all the usual stuff.
So finally it remains for me to thank everyone for their support over the last 3 years to make Gavin’s Gadgets one of the UK’s largest independent tech and gadget websites.
