Naughty – Google Chrome on android is adding adverts

Google Chrome on android got updated recently with a bandwidth management option that saves up to 50% data usage.

Just one catch. This function adds adverts even on non commercial websites like the BBC.

Screen shot below.

It has an advert for the Nokia Lumia 1020 at the top.

Not sure I’m over happy about this but how do you feel?

Is this not just because the proxy used by Google picks up the international BBC website rather than the UK version?

  Good point. I’ve researched this a bit more and it’s partially correct.
  
  Google blames The BBC for having incorrect code the which then pulls out the wrong location and serves ads.
  
  So these ads do come from the BBC and not Google
