It’s all about Apple – 6pm UK Time

At 6pm UK time today, Apple will be live streaming their Keynote speech.

There are many rumours as to what will be announced a bit later today but here goes my predictions –

– First up the new iPhones, a 4.7 and 5.5 inch screen iPhone

– iOS 8 specific features and special extras that work only with the new iPhones

– OS X integration with all the new hardware and software – potentially the showcase piece with iOS 8

– Announcements on the Home kit and Health Kit along with new partners

– iWatch – this is likely to have a multitude of sensors that integrate with the Health app on iOS 8.

And less likely –

– Announcements on the new iPads

– The reduction/death of the iPod range to be replaced by fashionable wearable tech.

So what’s your view on tonights keynote by Apple?

Apple – It is your turn to strike!

Samsung, Sony, HTC, Huawei and many others have all laid their wares out for all to see.

Now in a few days time, it is down to Apple to steal everyones thunder with new iPhones, maybe iPads and a wearable or two.

Predictably, it will either be a stampede of hardware/software ecstasy or in reality it will just be small iterations over previous hardware.

Personally, I am not expecting miracles!

The new iPhone will be radically different – details

The press is saying the next iPhone will have a larger screen and probably less bezels. And I believe this will happen but with even more potential. Why?

Apple has filed solar patents that will allow them to power their electronic devices directly through solar cells ending the issues of poor battery run times and potentially enabling a thinner and lighter iPhone.

So what if the screen itself became the fingerprint sensor enabling the end of the home button and thereby having even smaller bezels.

Apple also signed a $578m contract with GT Advanced Technologies to provide sapphire cover screens and that they would be spending $10.5B in capital during fiscal year 2014 including cutting edge lasers.

Apple posted a Manufacturing Design Engineer position that includes scribing and PVD coating which relate to solar cells and lasers.

So what could all this mean.

Well a new iPhone design with ultra thin bezels, no home button and the sapphire screen allowing usage as the fingerprint scanner and as solar cells to recharge the battery. If Apple mastered the solar recharging the iPhone could end up being seriously thin, possibly around the 5mm mark.

Of course the sapphire could be used for the rumoured iWatch too.

How will Apple release the iWatch that is so thin it’s magical?

There are a few smart watches in existence. Samsung, Sony and Pebble to name a few. My main view is all of these devices are too bulky or non stylish.

Apple has just patented a revision of the Bluetooth LE protocol. (Low Energy). What Apple has designed is a protocol whereby the connection is intermittent thereby reducing battery size and requirements and in turn creating a thin watch. In terms of iWatch functionality, Pebble has led the way as to what is possible with its new v2.0 SDK. All iOS 7 notifications appear on the Pebble.

My only concern with any watch no matter how slick or smart is who actually wears a watch nowadays? Do you? I don’t ?

What if the next iPhone and rumoured iWatch were on one of the same thing?

The next iPhone, will undoubtedly feature a slightly different size to the 5S. Apple is rumoured to be launching its own take on the smart watch.

But what is both of the new items were actually one of the same thing? Flexible displays have been prototyped already, so why can’t the new iPhone actually bend around your wrist, display the time and notifications in this mode, and straighten out when off your wrist for normal phone/gaming use.

Now it may not be next year or even the year after, but I do think this solution is the future concept.

What do you believe will happen?

Apple preparing for a bumper product release

When did Apple last release a product. Nearly a year ago. So be prepared for a huge product launch of new iPads, iPad Mini, iPhone 5S and iWatch. Improvements are also likely on iPods too.

The full size iPad will copy the design of the current iPad Mini, so will feature a lighter and slimmer profile. Spec increases in processor and camera are expected too, along with iOS 7.

The iPad Mini 2 will have increased specs in the processor and camera, along with a retina based screen. But maybe more. Apple has recently been granted a new patent that allows for clever bezel technology. This could add touch controls to the bezel which will allow the bezel to also fade in and out of view, which would provide the largest screen area possible when needed as well. I hope the iPad Mini is also made available in 128gb.

The iPhone 5S should look similar to the iPhone 5, but again with better specs in processor and camera. And one new software/hardware feature that will be exclusive to the 5S. Colours are likely to feature, and this might relate to the new lower cost iPhone.

iWatch. Apple is prised to launch a smart watch. How serious is Apple about the iWatch. Enough to tempt Paul Deneve, the 53-year-old chief executive officer of haute couture fashion house Yves Saint Laurent, to head to Cupertino to be in charge of special projects. Yes a luxury Apple Watch, the iWatch.

And finally, iPods will receiver minor spec bumps in processor and camera and potentially memory.
