BlackBerry Passport & BlackBerry Blend

IMG_2821.PNG

Part of owning the BlackBerry Passport is using the BlackBerry Blend software. Above screen shot is from the iPad app! You can also set this up for your Mac or PC. Or even your android device.

BlackBerry® Blend is software you can download for your computer and tablet that seamlessly brings messaging and content that’s on your BlackBerry smartphone to your computer and tablet.

BlackBerry Blend brings all your BBM™ and text messages from your BlackBerry to the integrated messaging hub on your computer and tablet. Get instant notifications of new messages, and read, respond and create messages on any device to be more productive.

Forgot your BlackBerry smartphone at home? You can still get your BBM™ messages, emails and text messages from your BlackBerry on your computer or tablet through BlackBerry Blend, even when you don’t have your phone with you. This is super excellent.

Forget having to email files to yourself or using a USB stick to transfer important documents. Save files from your computer or tablet to BlackBerry Blend so they are accessible on any device connected to BlackBerry Blend – even when you don’t have your phone with you.

BlackBerry Blend does exactly what it says on the tin. It’s simple and I love it and it adds more value to the Passport offering.

BlackBerry Passport – Impressions part 2 – will it bend?

IMG_2818.JPG

This question has been asked by so many people.

“BlackBerry Passport, will it bend”

“Answer – not even Superman can bend the BlackBerry Passport”

Next week starting on Monday, I will give me views on the software, audio quality, camera verdict and much much more.

The Passport is in a live battery test. So far at 6.30am it’s managed 24 hours and has 10% battery left.

BlackBerry Passport – First Impressions

My BlackBerry Passport has arrived. Lets cut to the chase but before I do have a look at the hardware photos below –

So as you can see the hardware is gorgeous. Every person who has been shown the BlackBerry Passport has been intrigued and been very praise worthy of quality and look of the hardware. This ranged from tech geeks all the way through to my wife. Clearly, there is still a lot of love for the BlackBerry brand. Also if you look at the first photo, sunlight visibility is not an issue whatsoever. In fact the Passport is a whole 100+ nits brighter than an iPhone 6. From my point of view the hardware looks like a £600 smartphone. It looks and feels substantial, yet fits in all my pockets including front shirt pockets with ease.

The Passport is fitted out with some excellent hardware specifications from a Snapdragon 801 processor, 13mp camera with optical image stabilisation, 32gb storage plus 128gb micro SD card slot and so much more. If you need to know about the top flight specifications head over to BlackBerry here http://uk.blackberry.com/smartphones/blackberry-passport.html.

To give you some idea of my first two shots from the camera, see below –

I have not had much time with the BlackBerry Passport but I wanted to give you a quick heads up. The BlackBerry OS is brand new to myself so I am also learning as I go along. The 4.5 inch screen is ideal for viewing emails and web sites and other office or business documents. The Passport also does a whole lot more too of which I have to explore.

I will leave you with this one thought. Whatever your preconceptions of this phone until you have held it and used it, that is the only time you will be able to pass judgment or comment.

My next step will be to explore the software in more detail over the weekend, so expect part 2 next week. Once again, keep the questions flowing.

BlackBerry Passport – the killer device

image

The BlackBerry Passport has a full HD 4.5-inch square screen, which is said to offer a similar viewing space to a 5-inch phone, but ‘an even better viewing experience’ because of the screen’s width.

It has 1440×1440 pixel resolution display with a pixel density of 453PPI.

Other specifications include a 2.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor, 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage plus expandable storage via microSD card up to 128gn.

There is also a 13MP rear camera with OIS and a 2MP front camera.

The touchscreen is accompanied by a physical keyboard, and the Passport runs BlackBerry 10 OS 10.3.

This software features BlackBerry Blend, which lets users BlackBerry content to other devices including PCs and Android phones, as well as the Amazon Appstore.

This means that Android apps from the Amazon store can be installed on the BlackBerry device.

Prices in the various regions are £529 in the UK, $599 in the US, €649 in France and Germany, and $699 in Canada, when bought from ShopBlackBerry.com.

So who is rushing out to buy one. It doesn’t offer more than one day battery life unlike my work BlackBerry Curve that can last 3-4 days. At least if it did have better battery life that would be a plus point.

So how do you feel about this phone ?

Why I will be changing my LG G3 for the BlackBerry Passport

passport_white_xray

The BlackBerry Passport is due out next month. It is unique with its square shape and screen, special keyboard and more. BlackBerry have emphasised just how good the screen is for documents.

But now they are promoting it is perfect for viewing X-Rays of your lungs. So now I have found a feature my LG G3 does not include, and this in turn has provided the sole reason for changing the LG G3 for the BlackBerry Passport. I know deep down this is a feature you all have dreamed of, so maybe we can all club together and make a bulk purchase!
