This is clearly “inspired by the Apple Watch in more ways than one. I really can’t say much more than that. Asus introduces a “crown” and a new “magnetic charger”, 2 different sizes, 3 case colours and 18 strap combinations. It looks good. But what do you think of the ZenWatch 2?”

From Asus –

“ZenWatch 2 builds upon the original ZenWatch, offering an even more refined design, an improved user
experience, and the introduction of completely new functionality. ZenWatch 2 now includes a metal watch
crown, enhancing the user experience by a providing new way to interact with the watch. It also comes
with an all-new magnetic charger that features effortless attachment and dramatically improved battery
recharge times.

Combining sophisticated sensors with all-day comfort, ZenWatch 2 works together with the all-new
Wellness smartphone app to serve as a personal activity and fitness manager to help users keep their
lives in balance and achieve personal fitness goals.

ZenWatch 2 features a durable stainless-steel case available in two sizes —— and attractive Silver, Gunmetal and Rose Gold colours to comfortably fit anyone’s wrist and sense of style.

ZenWatch 2 is available with a wide-range of straps in a variety of materials and colours for further
personalization. A tough yet supple rubber strap comes in Blue, Orange, Red, and Taupe colours, and is
the perfect choice for athletes, people with active lifestyles, or those who like a more casual look. A soft, premium leather strap is available in Khaki, Brown, Gray, Blue, and Orange colours, providing an elegant look that fits any situation. A stainless-steel link bracelet comes in Silver, Gunmetal or Rose Gold colours to perfectly match ZenWatch 2’s case colours for a bold, luxury watch look and feel. The variety of available designs lets users easily customize their watch to fit any style, mood, or occasion, such as using a traditional, elegant watch face for work or a night out, or changing to a more playful design for use during leisure time. Asus pulls out of making Windows RT machines – losses to high

Asus,  CEO Jerry Shen spoke to the Wall Street Journal, and repeated that “Windows RT has not been very successful” and said that the company took a writedown on its stock of RT tablets.
He also said that, from now on, ASUS will solely make Windows 8 devices that run on Intel / x86 processors, due to the backwards compatibility with Windows software offered by those products.

The Microsoft offering with 2 different types of Windows was just too confusing and limited.  Asus is not the only company to suffer huge losses due to poor sales.

Asus launches the FonePad – a challenger to the Samsung Note

Asus has just launched a monster Phablet with a 6 inch 1080p screen complete with stylus. Clearly looking to take on the Samsung Galaxy Note. It is powered by an Intel Atom Z2560 CPU, with 2GB of RAM and a 1080p iPS display. Like the HTC One and many Samsung Galaxy Tabs, the Fonepad Note has front-facing stereo speakers. It’s also packing an 8-megapixel rear camera and 1.2 front camera.

In terms of connectivity, it tops out out at DC-HSDPA (42Mbps) speeds. On the software side, ASUS is boasting customized pre-loaded apps that take advantage of the bundled stylus.

So what you will likely have is a cheap Note clone. Except its note a Samsung. Would you be interested in this. And is a 6 inch screen too big. As a phone it is but not as a web browser or media device.
