Patent troll Lodsys abandoned a lawsuit on the eve of a trial rather than face the possibility of losing on the merits of its claims.
Security firm Kaspersky Labs, one of dozens of defendants in Lodsys’ two-year-old lawsuit over claims related to in-app purchases, said in a blog post today that Lodsys settled its claims without winning any concessions from Kaspersky. “Churchill was right: ‘Never give up,'” company founder Eugene Kaspersky wrote. “We’ve followed his advice in our fight against a particular troll. As a result the troll gave up and ran away with nothing and its tail between its legs.”
The US Government really needs to create some legislation to get rid of companies like this that stifle business.
The latest rumours suggest Amazon has 2 phones in the pipeline. A budget and a top flight offering. Both will offer easy access to all of Amazon’s services and products. The top flight phone is rumoured to use a 3D interface. Lets hope motion sickness is not an issue with this sort of display.
The key aspect of these devices is the pricing. Will amazon offer these at cost and once again disrupt the smartphone market as it has with the Kindle Fire tablets.
I still perceive Amazon as the biggest threat to all smartphone/tablet manufacturers. It already has the eco system and the largest most diverse shopping offering.

So would you buy this instead of the iPhone?
Adobe reported the other day news about a major security breach –
Our investigation currently indicates that the attackers accessed Adobe customer IDs and encrypted passwords on our systems. We also believe the attackers removed from our systems certain information relating to 2.9 million Adobe customers, including customer names, encrypted credit or debit card numbers, expiration dates, and other information relating to customer orders. At this time, we do not believe the attackers removed decrypted credit or debit card numbers from our systems.
With more and more major companies, smaller ones, industrial sites all being hacked, just how safe is being connected nowadays? Is using the cloud really a better option than local non connected storage?
2020. We will all be buying goods online and using online services. High streets will all have closed. Then everything gets hacked and we won’t be able to do anything. Could this be a reality?
At the beginning of the week I mentioned Argus, an iOS 7 app that made use of the iPhone 5S M7 motion processor chip.
After a bit of research, I have found a few other apps.
Strava Run – https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/strava-run-gps-running-training/id488914018?mt=8
Pedometer++ – https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/pedometer++/id712286167?mt=8
WeatherRun – https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/weatherrun-bike-walk-hike/id599397919?mt=8

Nike+ Move is soon to be updated to make full use of the M7 processor as will a number of other apps.
This is what makes the iPhone always greater than the sum of its total parts. App support and third party accessories is extensive providing additional uses for the phone.
The Verge reported the Fitbit was fighting but with the Force, a tracking device with watch.

The next Fitbit looks like it will have will have a display that’s more extensive than just a few dots; it will reportedly be able to tell you the time and some of fitness data (like the number of steps you’ve ascended.) The device will reportedly come in black and blue color options, as well as a small and a large size.
It seems the race for the next best smartwatch is just heating up!
Oh look, the game is free to download and play. Except to progress further or quicker you have to pay as you play.
This has arisen by our need for cheaper apps and games to the point free is best. So for developers to earn any money, they use in app purchases.
Now some developers are not so greedy with in app purchases, whereas others get greedy to the point a game loses it flow and becomes unplayable.
Unfortunately, with developers earning more money via freemium they are unlikely to disappear. Personally, I think this type of app or games often ruins the app and experience.
What do you think?
The world wide web is slowly but surely going private. Newspapers sit behind paywalls, to read an article micro transactions are starting to appear.
And micro transactions are starting to be used more and more. Will we get to a point whereby it costs too much to obtain information? What do you think?
