Protect your iPhone
You’re reading this and you think you have setup a 4 digit pass code and FindmyPhone app. If you haven’t do it now. If you have a mac and an iPad do the same.
But the above steps are not enough. Go to settings, general restrictions and enable it. Turn off deleting apps, turn off allow location changes, and accounts changes. Now if your phone is stolen out of your hand and not pass locked the thief cannot delete the FindmyPhone app. The thief cannot delete the account or any of your email accounts and cannot turn off location services.
Now go find the bastard!
Emoji Keyboard Shortcut Tip
You’re in a rush. You’re using an external keyboard. It’s fiddly to keep switching to the emoji keyboard to enter your fav icons.
Well, save time and use the keyboard shortcuts in the settings app. Pre type your emoji icons with your text shortcut letters. See photos below.
Pressreader for iOS
Pressreader for iOS is another app that offers newspapers. The app is free to download, but you have to pay via in app subscriptions for the respective newspapers.
Pressreader provides some translations of foreign titles and tries to preserve the look of the paper. This works but not all the time. The other aspect is for £23.99 per month you can have access to all the papers on their list. Sounds great, but when will you be able to read them all!
Photofast iFlash Drive – quick way to share files between iPhone and Mac
Now this accessory is a neat way to share files between your iPod, iPhone and iPad with the lightning connector. It’s is a 16gb USB drive in capacity. It works in conjunction with an app. Connect the lightning connector into your iPhone, open the app and your files are shown. Copy or move from your phone or from the USB stick. Once finished, plug the USB end into your mac and repeat.
Only one downside, and its a big one, this gadget cost $150. Now who said Apple accessories were expensive.
Apps and iOS wins with Nike Fuelband
On February 9th, Nike Support informed people through Twitter that they’re only focusing on iOS and web right now. “We’re not working on an Android App.”
So the Nike Fuelband is only available on iOS. Another win for iOS.
Bump update
Bump has been updated on iOS and android. The link shown is for the iOS app.
The new update removes the need for using a USB stick as you can send and receive files from your pc.
That’s in addition to sharing contents between devices using the bump app.
Now if the iPhone had a decent file sharing system you wouldn’t need this app.
Apple releases new lightning cable & headphones
Apple has released a shorter USB lightning cable of 0.5m. Personally that’s really short and I wonder why they reduced it from a metre length.
The in ear headphones have also been slightly redesigned with curvier controls to match the earpod style.
The best camera
The best camera is always the one you have with you. I took this photo with an iPhone 5 using the panoramic mode. The camera options are limited but you can take good snaps.

The Phablet iPhone Concept
They say the best ideas are the ones you have in a moment of inspiration.
Well if Apple released a 5 inch phone they would be seen to be copying others like Samsung. However, maybe if they used my idea, it would be seen as innovation.
The concept is simple. Take the iPad Mini and fold it in half to create a clam shell device thats as thin as the iPad Mini when folded and is half the weight.
Simple don’t you think?
