Apple holding a special event “Original Passion, New Ideas”

It is reported that Apple is holding a special event in San Francisco on June 29th to celebrate 6 years since the date of the original iPhone.

So, Apple has been very quiet recently. No announcements whatsoever.

This event is meant to show off the iPhone 5S and iPad 5. But this is 6 years celebration. What if there was an iPhone 6 or whatever the new coding name becomes or an iWatch. Are Apple getting ready for the next big thing?

Netnewswire plans to get an long overdue update

Before Google Reader my favourite rss app was Netnewswire. I stopped using it because it didn’t function as well as Newsify which synced across my iPad and iPhone. So if I switched devices, I never read the same item as it kept in sync with Google Reader.

Now that Google Reader is being closed down, Netnewswire have confirmed they are working again on an update for both their OS X and iOS apps. I for one can’t wait to see the new versions.

Google’s removal of Reader might have been a big mistake.

Apple’s Podcast App gets major update

Podcasts has had a big update. Podcasts 1.2 allows users to create custom stations of their favorite podcasts that update automatically with new episodes and choose whether the stations begin playing with the newest or oldest unplayed episode. Those stations are stored in iCloud, so they’re synced across all devices.

Listeners can create On-The-Go playlists on their iOS devices with their own list of episodes, and the Now Playing view has been redesigned with playback controls that Apple says are easier to use.

Also, the reel to reel effects have been removed and a new cleaner look as shown below is being used. This is a sign of what iOS will ultimately move towards.

What is Apple held a press conference next week?

Samsung have launched the Galaxy S4, and it got mixed reviews. Mainly it wasn’t much of an improvement over the S3. In fact Samsung did an Apple. 4 to 4S. Now Samsung is due to release the S4 on 26th April.

But what if Apple announced a press conference for next week, and took the world by surprise and launched the iPhone 5S which was a reasonable improvement over the 5. What if they released a cheap iPhone made from plastic. And if by some miracle they released the iPhone 6, would Samsung be hit by a huge loss in sales. In fact if Apple released any of the following it could severely hurt Samsung.

Now where’s my invite?

IDC forecasts android tablets will ship more than iPads in 2013 – just one problem

The latest tablet shipment forecast from IDC projects that Android will take a 48.8% share of the tablet market in 2013, a significant jump from the 41.5% share of the market the platform held in IDC’s previous projection. The rise of Android in the tablet realm comes at the expense of Apple (AAPL), which IDC projects will hold a 46% share of the tablet market in 2013, a decline of five percentage points from the 51% market share it held in 2012.

Only one problem, actually two.

These forecasts are made without any input of sales of new iPad versions and secondly there is a chronic shortage of android tablet apps.
