How can I find my Windows product key?

The Telegraph had a useful post on how to find your windows product key.

If you wanted to reinstall Windows on a computer but the label on the case is too worn to able to read the product key here’s what you do.

This information is encrypted so you will need help from a free utility called Belarc Advisor. Not only will this decrypt and show your Windows Product key, and those of any other MS products you might have, it reveals a vast amount of information about your computer’s hardware and software, which it displays in a browser window.

Target Corp.’s Chief Information Officer Beth Jacob is resigning, effective immediately, in wake of the massive data breach during the holiday 2013 shopping season which saw as many as 70 million customers having their personal information stolen, including 40 million debit and credit card accounts.

The retailer also said would be overhauling its information security practices and compliance division, and would be looking for external candidates to serve as an interim CIO.

Discounts on Nokia Lumia 1020 and 925 – details

My friends at Clove Technology dropped me a line saying lots of money can be saved on Nokia Lumia phones.
 
We all like to save money where we can so how does a £132 saving on the Nokia Lumia 1020 sound?

There is also £66 off the Nokia Lumia 925.

Both have just dropped significantly in price.

The 1020 was £538.80 inc VAT, now its just £406.

The 925 was £354 inc VAT, now it is just £288.

It is without doubt that the 1020 has the best camera on a smartphone currently whilst the 925 offers a high end Windows Smartphone without the high end price or the additional bulk of the camera on the 1020.

Another one bites the dust – Zite

Flipboard has today confirmed its acquisition of rival news reader Zite from CNN. The company plans to integrate Zite’s technology into its existing service, while Zite as we know it will be killed off.

“We’re going to integrate the technology into Flipboard in the coming months,” Flipboard CEO Mike McCue announced during a press call with CNET on Wednesday. “We do not plan to continue to evolve Zite, we think we should focus on a single product.”

This is a real shame as I personally preferred Zite over Flipboard.

BlackBerry BBM changes

A new version of BBM is in the pipeline, and it’ll have a few new features for those that use the BBM service.

You will finally be able to share photos in multi person chats, plus you’ll get the ability to send files that are up to 16MB in size — the current limit is 6MB. In a response to customer feedback, BlackBerry also promises that the size of the emoticons will be bigger.

Patent Troll Says It Owns Podcasting – Surely Not!

Techdirt have a piece of news regarding a patent troll that claims to own Podcasting. If the company succeeds the impact could be huge.

“We’ve written a few times about a patent trolling operation called Personal Audio. Like so many patent trolling companies, who’s actually behind it is something of a mystery, but it does have an empty office in East Texas that no one ever goes to. It sued Apple and others claiming that it held patents on the concept of “playlists” and actually scored some victories. Amazingly, it sued Apple multiple times over the same patent, arguing that small changes to its products were new violations.

Well, the company is back with a “new” patent, 8,112,504, called a “System for disseminating media content representing episodes in a serialized sequence” and appears to be claiming that podcasting itself violates the patent — and has sued three podcasters, including Adam Carolla’s “ACE Broadcasting,” HowStuffWorks and Togi Entertainment. Personal Audio focuses on claim 31 of the patent, which you can read here:”
