Yesterday I received the official Samsung Protective Lens Cover for my S7. Samsung also sell this for the S7 Edge.
Below are some camera samples and comparisons with the LG G5. To view full size click on each photo.

I have since discovered that apparently the wide angle lens can also be used for macro shots. This I need to test still. The Telephoto lens can suffer light flare easily, but this can be removed by blocking the light hitting the lens awkwardly.
All the S7 shots were originally 4:3. I just cropped then to 16:9. I really liked the dog burst shots taken with the telephoto lens. The wide shots were as expected. Quality seemed similar to the LG G5, although in places the edge does go to the S7 with the lenses attached. However, if you have the LG G5, you don’t need to attach anything.
The actual case for the S7 is a very strong and sturdy affair and even has a raised grip section on the right back end. Neat touch.

When it comes to 16:9 it is clear that the LG delivers a wider field of view and hence is better for instantaneous single shot panoramic landscape photography. I wonder how the LG would fare if it was cropped to match the s7 with wide angle 4:3. The 4:3 ratio may have an advantage for architectural type shots. In terms of IQ, I agree, there is not much difference between the two from the shots, but the reason why you may think the s7 may have better corners may be due to the fact the corners have been cropped off when converting from 4:3 to 16:9.
In terms of JPG rendering, the G5 does better, and the overall image looks more natural and has just the right amount of sharpening. The S7 shows visible sharpening halos which looks terrible in my opinion. I am unsure to why Samsung changed the algorithm from the predecessor S6. The S6 was the odd ball which rendered a very un sharp JPG image (less sharp than the equivalent RAW DNG image captured from the same phone).

Just one more comment. Based on the images posted using the telephoto adapter on the S7, there is significant corner softness. The center sharpness is great. For an optimum image, I would be cropping off the soft corners where necessary.

I think that adding lens to a phone is just too uncomfortable.. I would use it once , twice.. and then leave it in the drawer. Nope. G5 is the way to go if camera is most important to you and you don’t do most of your shots under low lighting. I meant low light with moving objects of course because I think the G5 takes the crown even in low light , if the scene is static.

Excellent comparison Gavin! Noticed there seems to be more evident corner softness when using the telephoto lens more so that the ultra wide angle lens. Also in the telephoto sample shots the softness extends further from the corners up the sides of the image creating a somewhat “not so sharp” frame.

It does. A small crop helps when using the telephoto.
