LG G5 BCK-5100 Hybrid Battery Charger & Portable Battery review

Welcome to my review of the LG G5 BCK-5100 Hybrid Battery Charger & Portable Battery.

The LG G5 BCK-5100 is available and in stock from Clove Technology. It costs £39.99.

So what do you get in the box and why is this a hybrid charger.

Apart from a few leaflets you get the charging dock, a LG G5 battery and a plastic protective case for the spare battery to transport it in.

So unlike most current flagship phones none offer a user swappable battery like the G5. So with this kit, you can change the G5’s battery with the spare recharged one. This means rejuicing from 0% to 100% in seconds. The fastest quick charge ever!

The dock connects using the usb type C cable that came with your G5. Its annoying that a cable isn’t included especially at the price being charged. You place the battery inside and the led lights flash until all of them turn solid indicating a full battery.

But this is a hybrid charger meaning you can connect any USB cable and recharge another device. So in essence it doubles up as a portable battery charger as well.

The specifications are –

– Input : 5V, 1.8A (USB C type)
– Output : 5V, 1A (USB A type)

If you have a LG G5 then this is a must have accessory. It is superb going from a flat battery to 100% in seconds and also having the ability to recharge another device.

Available from Clove Technology.

  1. And not adaptator for USB C type inside. The charger is not light. But the battery with the case yes 🙂 ideally for travel.

  2. Hi.
tumbled across your site when seeking about Lg G5 photos.

I have favour to ask (sorry about a little offtopic).
Please make article about LG G5 GPS performance. There is 0% info currently in internet about it. GPS stability/performance in smartphone(s) is something I care greatly (I was ready to buy LG G4 for its GPS power, loudspeaker and camera but after seeing LG G5 dual cameras… I dont know anymore. I need to know about GPS performance on LG G5 to make my decision.

I know lot of ppl dont care about gps, but I do. I use it a lot in my travels.

Please download “AndroiTS GPS Test” from playstore, run it in your LG G5 in flightmode (with only actual GPS ON, nothing else), and please test it indoors and outdoors. Does it locks in quickly indoors and stay connected to satellites? If you can, please share some screenshots from androits GPS test where I can see how many satellites does it catch (particularly also interested in Beidou satellite performance, Beidou is chinese satellite system), you can see them by country flags in AndoiTS GPS.

Please, please make this test and post results in your site. Of course you can washout your actual coordinates from test, I dont need them. Just really want to know performance of GPS.

Bookmarked your site and will be checking your site for this article.

You can answer me privately via e-mail too, if you dont want to make such article.

    1. Hi Jazz. Thanks for posting. As I’m in the UK I am not sure I will pick up the Chinese satellites. I use the G5 a lot for travel, weather and more and its very good. When I get a moment I will create a post.

      1. Hi,

I travel to Maroc the next week. I can try a little review about GPS. I don’t think there is any problem. GPS in smartphones are crazy good now even on my Old Moto E without giroscope 🙂

    2. Played with it a little. Went outside and it found eighteen satellites. 3 of them Chinese.

Like the recording mode, tried that and went for a walk and it showed where I went in the map. Wish I could record that path. Other than just with screen shots. Has access to a number of maps, Google seems the most detailed.

Indoors it won’t see any satelittes and relies on a-gps.

      This was on a G4.

  3. Wondering whether those led lights work as a level indicator when it’s being used in battery pack mode ?

3 lights full, 1 light nearing the end.

Not a fan of the price. The battery is a tenner. Thirty for the rest is steep.
