Samsung is abandoning the UK – details

First Samsung announced their flagship Samsung Galaxy Note 5 would not be available in the UK. This stunned many people including journalists.

Now Samsung have gone one step further to abandoning the UK market.

“We quickly adapt to market needs and demands. In the UK, we have seen a gradual and sustained decline in demand for standalone digital cameras and camcorders and related accessories. For this reason, we have taken the decision to phase out the sales and marketing of these products. This is a local decision, based on local market conditions.”

So now standalone digital cameras, camcorders and related accessories will no longer be available for sale in the UK along with the flagship phone, the Samsung Galaxy Note 5.

Time for Huawei to step up its marketing plan!!

  1. The lack of UK availability of the Note 5 is not a big issue as I see Note 5 owners on the London tube as lots of people import this device. The issue is lack of warranty cover.

    1. A very small percentage would have imported. Most would buy on a contract and as not available they can’t buy it.

Warranty for me on a £500 device is really important hence why I didn’t go ahead and get one.

If the rumours are true, we might see this being sold in the UK, but I’m not so sure.

      1. My thread at XDA Developers on UK importing of the Note 5 has had 39k views. Suggests real UK interest in the Note 5.
