Apple iPhone 6 Plus – Action shots from the Camera

I’ve been waiting for the weather to improve to take some action shots on my iPhone 6 Plus. Ideally you need bright sunshine but I decided over the weekend I would just try and take whatever shots I could. The light was dreadful. Dull and overcast. All the below photos have not been edited. To give you a better idea of the quality, I used the built in Photos app and cropped in on the movement.

So the first shot above is of Fury demonstrating the long jump.

And above we have Tiggy chasing Fury. It is worth noting that in real life this was incredibly fast. When Fury and Tiggy chase each other they are like bullets.

Now George is about to show off the long jump. The lighting was so poor that if I was not using the burst mode on the default camera app, HDR was often chosen.

So the last few are of all 3 dogs racing through the leat. Again in real time this whole sequence was over in seconds. All the shots were taken using the default camera app, just holding down the shutter to activate burst mode which is totally instantaneous. So let me know your thoughts.

  1. I would have asked what happened to the colours in the sky, were to not for the fact I doubt there wasn’t any.
As such this would have made everything quite flat, which is always a test of both the camera and the person holding the aforementioned equipment.
Considering the above the phone did very well and I am more than surprised with the burst speed the 6 Plus can maintain.

Still no luck for me yet getting one Gavin. Meadowhall did manage to get one 128GB Gold model (not my preferred colour though) which I noticed at 9 mins past into the new Sunday morning but that was gone not long after. Nothing this morning at the same time and time is running out for me to find a shot of going to my Apple Shop.
I may have to go for the normal online order and suck it and see with the 3 to 4 week waiting list.

    1. Yep there was no sky. Dreadful conditions for photos. Mike how about ordering online. Then when you have time check at 1 min past midnight. This is the best time to check. If the model is available reserve it. After collecting then go and cancel online order. If stock is available you need to reserve asap.

      1. Yes sorry Gavin, this is what I was trying to explain when I mentioned 9 mins into the new Sunday morning.
In other words I have been checking at midnight (when their servers come back online with the updated details) their stock for my local store.
In the past few days with the exception of one 128GB Gold model they have been completely out on all 128GB models both at midnight and whenever I have checked during the day. As I mentioned, I most probably will have to resort to playing the 3/4 week waiting game but I’ll also look into the idea of carrying on checking and cancel if one 128GB Black&Grey model should come in.
Unfortunately though, as of the end of this week and for the next month however I won’t have the time to get to my store.
Retirement is overrated and a freedom misconception.

  2. Truly awesome for being action pictures! And I love dogs. And it looks great where you live 🙂
But honestly, you can say whatever you want about apple, they seem to do certain things right. The average Joe needs to be able to pick up the phone, make a picture in this instant and it needs to turn out well. The Lumia 1020 camera is probably better regaring true camera potential but I, being a normal user, don’t care about that. The camera needs 4 seconds to start up? No, thanks. I need to perfectly align myself with whatever? No, thanks.
I need to check my OnePlus one against this, haven’t done action pictures, so far.

    Greetings from Germany
    André
