iOS 8.01 landing soon – list of fixes and help for WiFi bug now

Macrumors.com has got hold of a list of the bug fixes that iOS 8.01 will address. Among the issues:

– Phone: Addresses bugs with call forwarding and freezing when accessing visual voicemail
– Keyboard: Fixes an issue with keypad not appearing to enter iCloud Keychain verification codes
– Safari: Fixes a problem with videos occasionally not playing
– Sharing: Fixes AirDrop support for Passbook passes
– VPN: Addresses an issue with installing VPN profiles

However, if you are having issues with WiFi on iOS 8, try this temporary solution.

Go into your settings, selecting Privacy, then Location Services, followed by System Services, and then disable Wi-Fi Networking.

  1. Yes, the Wifi on my iPad has been playing up since the update to 8.
The method I tried (and failed) was to first reset the iPad then when that didn’t cure the issue I reset the Wifi settings under Settings/General/reset/Reset Wifi Settings. This I did but all it then did was break what little connection I had. Now it’s worse in that not only is it a poor reception but it’s very intermittent now as well.
I have not heard of your method Gavin so I will give that a try. Other than that I’ll wait for the next update before escalating to the next level which will be to start all over again…….. and if that happens I’ll then be looking towards my old Android Tablet with thoughts of “Apple, I bought into you for the ease of use and simplistic running and maintenance, fail me and you are just another tablet”.

      1. I currently have a 128GB Wifi only iPad Air Gavin. I gave the 4 to my wife and like yours that one is fine.
To be honest the Air has always had some issue or another, like crashing a lot using either Google Search or Safari.

    1. Thanks…… and so do I hope they fix it.
As I am not alone with this particular problem ~ as in there are many reporting the problem you would like to think Apple have the proverbial finger on the pulse.

  2. If you read the reports coming out it seems that the three devices with A7 CPU seem to be having Wi-Fi issues: ie iPhone 5S, iPad Mini 2nd gen and iPad Air. Those running the ARM Cortex A9 seem to be a bit slow and are struggling: ie iPhone 4S, iPad 2, 3 and Mini 1st gen. That only leaves iPhone 5, 5C and iPad 4 with the A6 CPU running well. Perhaps it was rushed out?

  3. So, you too Gavin. I take it the recommendation you posted had no effect (it didn’t for me btw).
Of the iPad Air owners I know of (five), all but one has updated to iOS 8. That remaining Air owner is the only one who is happy with their Wifi.
That means every single Air user I know who has updated has an issue……… Hardly a random problem.
