It seems there is a nasty bug. After updating Touch ID and network/cell activation both fail.

Updated – if you restore 8.01 via iTunes this seems to fix issues. So don’t use OTA

Cheers, I never use OTA whenever possible but I am glad you mentioned this as my iMac tonight has started to play up.
