First photo from the Sony QX10 lens using a Nexus 4 phone

image

The above photo was taken using the Sony QX10 attached to my Nexus 4.

This was at 8x zoom. It is foggy and raining too.

I have also tried using the lens in a dark room testing its low light performance which so far has been rather good.

First impressions and more tomorrow along with the Sony Xperia Z1.

  1. I have enjoyed your HTC One and Samsung g4 zoom tests a lot
as they are from user and not technical jargon. Thank You!
Now i hope to see as much from real life experiences of Sony Z1 and lenses.
Especially Camera, but also navigation, sound…

      1. Excellent. Plenty of detail and very little noise captured.
If you could provide any exif (ISO, speed & f stop would be suffice) details for just one shot that would be great Gavin.
Unfortunately I am without my Laptop this week that will work out exif data as I am travelling light, thanks…

  2. That is most interesting….. and given the detail, lack of noise and especially the time makes it easy to accept the QX10 can really deliver.
Do you know what is the Max time setting and if there is any way it can be manually controlled, which that I seriously doubt?

      1. Gavin,
I have been trying to obtain information on the controlling aspect of the QX10 and 100 but with little luck. Apart from the dedicated Sony PlayMemories Mobile App there is little that shows the control and operation of the Lens.
Further, reading a couple of reviews of the PlayMemories App the feedback has not been that great. Many complain of just basic control being available.
If at any stage you could amplify your comment in the direction of what control is at hand especially manual control that would for me be interesting.
I know my Brother who is also considering a purchase does a lot of Astrophotography and he is keen to find out if there is any chance the lens would be of use with a telescope.
For this you would need a good control of time, which ironically is also one area I am looking at.

Basically Gavin anything you can add to the software side of things would be appreciated.
        Thanks…..
