Is Facebook charging users to send messages to celebrities a rip off?

Facebook is now charging users between 71 pence and £10 to send messages to celebrities. The price varies dependent on how popular Facebook determine the celebrity is.

Surely this goes against treating customers fairly. The user has no guarantee the celebrity will be bothered to read the message, so clearly its just money for old rope.

Or am I totally wrong?

  1. Nothing wrong with FB charging for these messages. If idiots want to pay them, that’s another matter! 🙂 As long as the user knows they’re being charged everything’s fine in my book.
