Fitbit had already been given the boot.”  That was a quote from Techradar.com. Recode also got the same message from Apple stores in the US.

With the Apple Watch incoming clearly Apple wants to focus customers on their own fitness device.  However,  it may not be that sinister,  just more of a case of needing to find extra store space to display all the new straps and Apple Watches.
