I was checking the spam stats on Gavin’s Gadgets, and the amount of spam received so far is 24,958 items.
The WordPress Spam filters have so far achieved a 99.88% success rate. But you have to ask why does a site like this get targeted with so much spam. What is the end goal especially as there is zero financial benefit?
I really hope that the 2 step authentication that I have enabled across my entire internet presence is enough to thwart these spammers.
WordPress spam filters are excellent. It is the size and accessibility of wordpress that makes it such a target. Makes me wonder why some even bother but some sites auto-approve comments so it must pay!
