Something is changing. Apple is slowly introducing more charges for accessing its support. Appleinsider is reporting that online support chat will now cost $19 per incident once your apple care coverage has lapsed. Actual telephone support chat is even more expensive.
Is this fair to charge for access to online chat as well? I’m not so sure. How would you feel if genius appointments became chargeable if outside the initial 90 days? Would this make you think twice before buying a product or accepting it as it is ?
I suppose what we have here is “if you use my time you pay for it”!
I on the otherhand don’t buy into the ‘any excuse to charge’ routine…..
If you purchase something as expensive as what Apple charges you in turn also buy into their support as and when required for free.
When you first purchase something like an electrical device at the foot of the bill is the ‘extended warranty’ or whatever it is named for further support. If Apple or anyone else wish to charge it needs to be presented here up front before you purchase the item.
