Taking the London Underground – try walking using this map – its quicker

If you’re in London, one often thinks the quickest way to get around is by using the tube. Well, by using this map, it clearly shows where it is quicker to walk than take the tube. Don’t forget, if travelling by tube, you have to travel all the way down to the train platform and back up again, whereas a brief walk in fresh London air takes a lot less time.

  1. Reminds me of a time when I was working in London & arranged to meet a friend (who didn’t know London very well) outside Charing Cross Station.
He was travelling in to Victoria, so logically took the tube to Embankment, but then took the tube from Embankment to Charing Cross! A 100 yard walk overland, and nearer 10 minutes by tube!
The London underground map is a classic piece of mapping/art, but gives the casual visitor no concept to distances and the scale of London.
