Below is a summary of the key headlines from MWC today.
– Nokia releases 2 new window 8 phones, the Lumia 520 and 720. Clearly aim at the budget market and also to try and regain control from Samsung. Also Nokia launched the 105 and 301 candybars costing a stunningly low price of €15 and €65 respectively. Both feature a one month battery life. Nokia rebranded its mapping to “Here”.
– ZTE announces the Grand Memo 1.5ghz Snapdragon 800 processor with a 5.7 inch screen at 720p. 247 pixels per inch. 2gb ram.
– LG revealed 8 devices. The Optimus F5 and F7, both mid to high endish. Then the L series got refreshed with the Optimus L3 II, L5 II and L7 II all low end and unlike the D series are only 3G capable. The Optimus G Line was the top device, with the G Pro a 1080p screen, quad core 600 chip at 1.7ghz, 5.5 inch IPS LCD display, 3140mAh battery and Jellybean 4.1.2. The Vu and Vu 2 were also shown but these have been out already.
– Fujitsu Arrows V F-04E – this is a 4.7 inch 720p phone, 13.1 mp camera, 1.5ghz quad core CPU , integrated 1seg TV antenna and 64gb storage. A rather slick phone.
– Asus Padfone Infinity – a 5 inch 1080p phone and the usual specs again but has the ability to dock inside a 10.1 inch tablet. Asus also announced the Fonepad, a 7 inch intel atom processor tablet with 3G data and voice.16gb of storage and all for around £180.
– Facebook and 18 carriers to offer discounted mobile messaging data ini 14 countries.
– Samsung kept plugging its Homesync android TV box and video discovery.
– Web OS has been acquired from HP to LG including the licences, and the team working on web OS.
– Sony took the wraps of their Xperia Z tablet. A super thin tablet with infra red built in.
